    Storm Gertrude has resulted in the complete closure of the Tay Road Bridge. Only cars are currently being allowed to cross the Forth Road Bridge.

    The storm has also resulted in 10% of ScotRail trains being cancelled.

    Ferry operator CalMac said it had been an exceptionally challenging start to the day, with all 26 routes affected either by cancellations or delays.

    All schools in the Western Isles, Shetland and Orkney are closed.

  14. Drivers forced into 154-mile diversion route after landslip on the A82published at 06:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2016

    A landslide on the A82 at Letterfinlay has forced a major diversion for drivers hoping to travel between Fort William and Inverness.

    The road is closed between Spean Bridge and Invergarry.

    Traffic Scotland said the diversion route was 154 miles long.

    In the past hour wind gusts of at least 90 mph have been recorded in the Western Isles at South Uist.

    Gusts of 75mph were also recorded in Stornoway, while 70mph gusts have been recorded at Prestwick.
