The Met Office has issued a red warning for snow for parts of central Scotland
The extreme weather warning runs from 15:00 on Wednesday until 10:00 on Thursday.
People are being advised not to travel in the worst affected areas unless absolutely necessary
Most schools in Scotland are closed on Wednesday and Thursday
Glasgow Airport is closed and buses and trains in the red warning area have stopped

Here are some of the routes which have been hit with problems.
- Virgin West coast trains are not running between Scotland and Preston.
- Glasgow Central to Ayr/Largs/Ardrossan/Gourock/Wemyss Bay reduced to half-hourly service.
- Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh via Falkirk High - reduced to a half-hourly service
- Glasgow Queen Street to Anniesland - withdrawn
- Glasgow Queen Street to Inverness/Alloa/Stirling/Aberdeen/Oban/Fort William/Mallaig - running as normal
- Glasgow Queen Street to Falkirk Grahamston will be diverted as it is unable to call at Springburn, Gartcosh and Cumbernauld
- Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street - running half hourly
- Edinburgh to Glenrothes/Dunblane - reduced to hourly
- Edinburgh to Glasgow Central - withdrawn
- Edinburgh to Dunbar/North Berwick/Tweedbank/Inverness/Aberdeen/Dundee and Perth - running as normal
- Aberdeen to Inverness/Inverurie/Dyce - running as normal
- Aberdeen to Edinburgh/Glasgow Queen Street - running as normal
- Inverness to Wick - delayed or cancelled
- Inverness to Kyle - running as normal

10:55 GMT 28 February 2018Scottish Power Energy Networks said it had drafted in a team of field staff on 24/7 standby to ensure homes and businesses are re-connected to the electricity supply if their is a power cut.
Director Guy Jefferson said: “Although power cuts are rare events for most people, it makes sense to be prepared just in case."

10:41 GMT 28 February 2018The amber weather warning, external - already in place across large parts of Scotland - has been extended to cover eastern parts of Dumfries and Galloway.
It is in place until 18:00 on Thursday and warns of long delays, cancellations on bus, rail and air services.
The Met Office says roads may be blocked by deep snow, stranding vehicles and passengers and it warns that rural communities may be cut off for several days.
Disruptions to power supplies as well and mobile phone networks are also a possibility.

10:37 GMT 28 February 2018Around 27,000 homes were affected by a power cut in Aberdeen this morning.
SSE said it was not weather related and power was restored between 06:25 and 07:14.
A spokesman said: “We would like to apologise to all of those affected by the interruption to supplies in the north west of Aberdeen this morning.
"There was a fault on our main network which we were able to restore remotely from our control room with all customers back on supply within an hour.”
