    The ScotRail train stuck between Blair Atholl and Kingussie managed to get moving again at about 15:00 but was stopped by another fallen tree.

    A maintenance team arrived to clear the track and the train has now returned to Blair Atholl where passengers have boarded a bus to take them north to Inverness.

  11. Passengers unable to get off plane because of strong gusts in Aberdeenpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 19 September 2018

    Passengers on a flight from Sumburgh to Aberdeen were forced to remain on the plane for an hour after it landed, due to fears that the aircraft could tip over if they got off.

    Ground operations at the airport were temporarily suspended due to winds of more than 50mph.

    A spokesman from Loganair confirmed the flight landed safely and 33 passengers and three crew were able to disembark.

    Glasgow Airport said the storm had led to more than 40 cancellations - with some aircraft having to return to their departure airport because they were unable to land.

    A spokesman said the size and capabilities of the aircraft often determined whether they could touch down safely.

    Edinburgh Airport also reported a number of cancellations and delays.

    Oban lifeboat crew responded to a report of a vessel drifting.

    The crew along with Prestwick Coastguard helicopter made searches of the area.

    The Maritime & Coastguard Agency said nothing untoward was found and units are being stood down.
