Dan Sanderson from The Telegraph asks if the purdah rule around the Holyrood elections will allow the Covid-19 briefings to continue being broadcast, given the BBC's impartiality rules.

Nicola Sturgeon says that is a matter for the BBC what they broadcast, but says when there is an election campaign she will still be first minister.

"I'm not going to stop doing my job," she stresses.

Jason Leitch adds that public health communication is critical during a pandemic.

  3. Scottish Cup 'in doubt' and no imminent resumption of lower league matchespublished at 13:23 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

    Chris McLaughlin
    BBC Scotland Sports News Correspondent

Following talks between the lower football league governing bodies and the Scottish government, there will be no imminent resumption of matches.

The leagues beneath the Scottish Premiership and Championship were suspended last month due to coronavirus fears, initially for a period of three weeks.

That was extended but clubs were hopeful of a return to action this month after presenting a plan involving regular player testing.

The SFA has now been told a resumption will have to wait until positive coronavirus figures fall further, with another review scheduled for 1 March.

The news puts this year’s Scottish Cup in doubt with a backlog of games already building up.

  4. NHS Fife needs to 'explain' vaccine delayspublished at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

Ross Greer tells BBC Scotland that NHS Fife still has "some explanation to give" over the delays to the vaccination appointments yesterday.

The MSP says the health board experienced "very similar problems" administering flu vaccinations last year.

"There's clearly something unique in the administration of NHS Fife that needs greater explanation and rectified," he says.

Mr Greer adds that he has not heard of any similar issues from his west of Scotland constituents over the last few days.

  5. FM: 'I'm really sorry about what happened in Fife'published at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

There's another question on Fife issues at the briefing, this time about elderly people having to leave queues due to the weather.

"I'm really sorry about what happened in Fife. Fife are really sorry. It shouldn't have happened." replies the first minister.

  6. Ross Greer: Deaths are reminder there's a 'long way to go'published at 13:14 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

    Ross Greer

Ross Greer, of the Scottish Green, says it's "massively reassuring" to see the huge number of people that were vaccinated yesterday, adding that it's a figure to be "celebrated".

But the MSP says the recent vaccination success does not take away from the fact that a further 58 deaths following a positive test for Covid-19 have been registered in the past 24 hours.

"We're still far from the end of this yet, we've got a long way to go," he says.

  7. Rennie: Vaccines total 'nothing to boast about'published at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

Willie Rennie says Scotland is moving in the "right direction" in the vaccine rollout, but by his estimation is still quite a bit behind England after a "sluggish" start.

A record 61,299 vaccinations were carried out in Scotland yesterday, but Mr Rennie told BBC Scotland that the country is still "143,000 vaccines behind".

"We need to be fast to catch up," he said.

"That's why I've been encouraging the government to move faster over the last few weeks, so I'm pleased that's happening, but it's nothing to boast about."

  10. New care home visiting guidance 'imminent'published at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

At the briefing BBC Scotland's David Shanks also asks about care home visiting guidance.

The first minister says the health secretary is continually looking at how greater normality can be returned to care homes.

Ms Sturgeon warns against any risk being added to older people in care homes.

There is no doubt the vaccine will pave the way to more normal visiting, she says.

National Clinical Director Jason Leitch adds: "New guidance is imminent."

    Wilie Rennie

The leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Willie Rennie, says he received "huge numbers" of complaints yesterday from people who had to queue for hours for their vaccine appointment.

He said many people in Fife were left waiting in the freezing cold for up to four hours when their appointments should have been a couple of minutes.

“I’m pleased that the first minister’s apologised for this but we need to make sure that this does not happen again,” he told the Coronavirus Update programme on BBC One Scotland.

Mr Rennie added that he would ask an urgent question at Holyrood about the issue this afternoon.

  12. Why were the problems with vaccinations in Fife yesterday?published at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

David Shanks from the BBC asks about over-booking in Fife vaccination centres yesterday, which led to long queues.

You can watch an urgent question at Holyrood from Willie Rennie this afternoon, here with us on this live page.

The first minister replies the problems were unique to Fife as far as she was aware.

Fife migrated to the new Service Now platform yesterday and that led to a rebooking issue she explains, leading to double booking and queuing.

"I think everyone can see how well this programme is going," continues the first minister.

"There is nothing going wrong with this programme," she insists.

The first minister reiterates her offer, as a last resort, to contact her at firstminister@gov.scot.
