    With Labour's manifesto set to focus on childcare, we look at the Scottish Liberal Democrats childcare and education policies. 

    • 1p on all rates of income tax for education leading to raise more than £500m for schools, colleges and nurseries
    • £170m per year for Pupil Premium to provide extra help to children who need it at school and no national testing
    • reverse college cuts with £108m investment in a year
    • extend free nursery provision to all two-year-old children, with extra support for the most vulnerable families from an earlier age

  11. Scottish Labour will also make pledges to create a fair start fund and build 60,000 new homespublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 27 April 2016

    • Further pledges for children in the manifesto will include a "fair start fund" to cut the attainment gap.
    • Ms Dugdale opposes George Osborne's rise in the threshold for the 40p income tax rate, and wants to increase the top rate to 50p for those earning more than £150,000.
    • Labour also want to add 1p to all income tax bands to raise money to protect services.
    • Labour wants to abolish the current system of council tax, replacing it with a new property-based levy including a revaluation of property prices across Scotland.

    • They would also seek to empower local government by devolving tax-raising powers such as a tourism tax, land value tax and a surplus from the Crown Estate.
    • On the NHS, Labour wants to protect the health service budget in real terms, guarantee an appointment with a GP within 48 hours, provide increased university places for medical students and invest more in advanced nurse practitioners.
    • The party has also set a target of having 60,000 new homes built across the next parliament, including 45,000 for social rent, alongside a plan to help first-time buyers get on the property ladder

    Labour's breakfast clubs policy could see an average investment of £6,500 at every school. 

    Ms Dugdale said it could help grow the economy and help women in particular thrive in their jobs.

    She said: "We want childcare that fits around the lives of parents, that is flexible, affordable and accessible.

    "So we will start on a new revolution in childcare, beginning with funding for a breakfast club in every primary school.

    "Breakfast clubs not only ensure children start the day with a healthy meal, but they provide the childcare that so many parents desperately need."

  17. Coming up today on the campaign trail and Labour will launch its manifestopublished at 10:02 British Summer Time 27 April 2016

    Scottish Labour is to launch its manifesto for the Holyrood elections, with one week of campaigning remaining.

    The party will set out its policy platform for the 5 May poll at an event in Edinburgh.

    Leader Kezia Dugdale has pledged to put education at the heart of Labour's proposals for government, which include funds for a breakfast club for every school in Scotland.

    She said Labour had "high ambitions" for how children are cared for.

    As well as underlining support for education and the NHS, the manifesto will contain pledges opposing the Trident nuclear weapons system, fracking and the idea of a second referendum on Scottish independence.

    Ms Dugdale has insisted she has set her sights on winning the election, saying she "wants to be first minister", although her chief goal is "renewing the fortunes" of the party.
