    Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson says figures published this week showed 254 children under the age of 16 were referred to the Children's Reporter for carrying knives.

    Ms Davidson asks how many were carrying knives on school grounds.

    First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says she does not have that figure, but that a minority would have been in school grounds.

    Transport Minister Humza Yousaf says Scottish ministers are directly responsible for trunk road routes and the safety is reviewed annually.

    Mr Yousaf says accidents have decreased on these roads since the routes were promoted.

    He says passing places and road edge strengthening is being considered.

    Mr Mountain says the North Coast 500 has been of tremendous benefit for local communities and asks if increased signage may be considered.

    Mr Yousaf says he will look at all proposals.

    30mph speed limit

    Residents of a Highland community on the popular North Coast 500 route have won their campaign for a lower speed limit.

    Highland councillors have approved that the limit on a 650m (2,130ft) stretch of the A835 in Elphin, in Sutherland, be reduced from 40 to 30mph.

    Road signs are to be improved and new speed warning signs are be installed.

    Councillors also agreed that the potential of creating a new footpath alongside the road be investigated.

    People in Elphin, 15 miles (24km) north of Ullapool, raised a petition in 2015 asking for a 40mph speed on approaches to the village to be reduced.

    Until now, Highland Council had not put in place any of the speed calming measures suggested by residents.

    Mr Yousaf says the government are working with the industry on an action plan to promote growth.

    Mr Chapman says there has been a decline in fish processing plants and staff which is concerning.

    The Tory MSP says businesses are struggling with business rates and asks if the government will stop pushing fish out of Scotland.

    Mr Cameron says geese damage to grazing is a major issue and given the concern from crofters and farmers will the government review its funding.
