    First Minister Mark Drakeford has said it is the first time simultaneous debates have taken place in the two chambers.

    Both the Scottish and Welsh governments oppose the prime minister's deal with Brussels and want Brexit delayed.

    The prime minister has promised MPs a vote to delay Brexit if they cannot agree on her deal.

    As it stands, the UK is due to leave the European Union on 29 March without an agreement.

    Labour MSP Daniel Johnson says it is the human consequences that really matter and adds around 10% of his constituents are non-UK EU citizens.

    Mr Johnson goes on to warn crashing out with no deal and moving to WTO rules would lead to a reduction of 9.3% of GDP.

    However the WTO have said it would take three months to be able to adopt its rules he points out.

    "People, with 24 days to go, have a right to ask how on earth have we arrived at this situation."

    Tory MSP Liam Kerr says many people in north east Scotland voted to come out of the common fisheries policy.

    Mr Arthur says there are a range of reasons behind a leave vote and we need to ask whether Brexit will solve them.

    The UK will not be allowed to leave the EU without a deal at any point, Defence Minister Tobias Ellwood has suggested.

    He told the Political Thinking podcast he and like-minded colleagues will stop a no-deal exit "whenever" - even if Brexit is delayed until the summer.

    MPs will get the opportunity to vote on a no-deal exit if Parliament rejects Theresa May's deal again next month.

    Mr Ellwood suggested the PM may have to pursue a "softer" Brexit to build a Commons majority for her deal.

    Tory MP Donald Cameron insists the prime minister's deal remains the best way to implement the momentous decision taken by the UK electorate in the EU referendum.

    "Not to respect that vote would render us guilty of forgetting we serve the electorate."

    He says not to leave the EU now would betray the Leave voters including one million Scots.

    Ms Sturgeon intervenes to insist the SNP government tried to find compromise and it is the failure to compromise that shames every Tory in the land, she says.

    Mr Cameron disagrees with this accusing the SNP of tactics and never wanting Brexit to work.
