The first minister says the Scottish government has always been clear of intentions to return the airport to the private sector.

Good progress continues to be made by the airport and in light of this progress, an invitation for expression of interest in purchase has been published she adds.

Mr Smyth seeks assurances that trade unions will be engaged with before an sale goes ahead.

Ms Sturgeon says she does not wish to go into speculative detail, but adds that any sale must protect Prestwick Airport and jobs.

I would fully expect engagement with trade unions, she adds.

Morven-May MacCallum says her life is still "completely dominated" by Lyme disease, nine years on from starting treatment.

About 200 people a year in Scotland are recorded with the disease but the true number is thought to be much higher.

The disease is a bacterial infection spread by a bite from an infected tick.

Scotland's chief medical officer has written to all of the country's NHS boards and GPs urging them to be vigilant about Lyme disease.

It gives us the opportunity to reflect on the contribution refugees and asylum seekers make to Scottish society, she says.

Ms Maguire says the "callous Tory government" means there are still lock change eviction and children and pregnant women at Dungavel.

She asks what the next prime minister's priority should be in fixing the "broken system".

Ms Sturgeon agrees this should shame the UK government and urges the incoming prime minister to "immediately overhaul the current failed asylum system".

She calls for a 28-day time limit on detention and a total ban on children being held.

  14. Women's World Cup: Scotland and being 20 minutes from victorypublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

Twenty years, 11 months and 18 days Scotland yearned to savour a World Cup dream. In their final group game in France, it took just 20 minutes for it to turn into a nightmare.

With 74 minutes showing on the clock at the iconic Parc des Princes, Scotland women looked on course to go one better than their male counterparts and qualify from their group on international football's biggest stage. Three goals up against Argentina knowing they needed a win to potentially advance, at long last, this appeared to be Scotland's moment.

However, instead of sending the Tartan Army merrily out into the streets of Paris, supporters drifted out of the old ground in the south west of the French capital, bewildered, broken hearted and befuddled at the traumatic late collapse.

But just how did Scotland, the world's masters at glorious failure, let their big moment slip? The best place to start is probably the 74th minute...

  15. Sturgeon praises Scottish women's football team for inspiring next generationpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

SNP MSP Gillian Martin says the Scottish women's football team have "done us proud" and asks about building on the success of getting to the World Cup.

Ms Sturgeon says everyone who watched last night will have experienced a roller coaster of emotions.

We have seen the team inspire the country and the next generation of wee girls and boys, she adds.

The first minister has spoken to coach Shelley Kerr, telling the team they should be proud of their achievements.

    kezie dugdale

Labour MSP Kezia Dugdale says 60% of children in care do not attain even one National 5 qualification and these children are less likely to go into higher education.

The first minister accepts there is work to do on education and commits to doing more, but adds that the attainment gap is closing.

  17. Tory MSP criticises workplace parking levypublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

    jamie greeneImage source, bbc

Tory MSP Jamie Greene says yesterday the SNP voted against exempting police officers, care workers, firefighters and other public service workers from having to pay the workplace parking levy.

Mr Greene asks if Ms Sturgeon agrees with her colleagues that the levy is a tax on the elite.

We're giving councils this discretionary power, replies Ms Sturgeon, and she adds it's up to them if they choose to use it.

The first minister cites the potential environmental impact of the workplace parking levy highlighted by the rural economy committee, which Mr Greene sits on.

  18. Rennie and Sturgeon clash over childcare for two year oldspublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

    willie rennieImage source, bbc

Scottish Lib Dem leader Willie Rennie says only a third of two years olds living in poverty are getting free childcare.

Nicola Sturgeon says the government is investing significant sums of money to double the amount of free childcare, insisting it is one of the biggest success stories of this parliament.

Ms Rennie highlights a report from Save The Children which says children are missing out and it risks efforts to close the poverty related attainment gap.

In England 70% of two year olds in poverty are receiving free childcare, double the number in Scotland he says.

The first minister insists the Scottish government is doing significantly more in expanding early learning and childcare south of the border.

We will continue to work with local authorities to ensure Scotland is leading the way, she adds.

  19. Space, the Waverly and NHS Borders raisedpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

SNP MSP Shona Robison goes on the space industry and expresses disappointment at a UK government agency withdrawing funding for Scotland's only satellite receiving centre in Dundee.

The first minister agrees there is a huge potential for the space and satellite industry in Scotland and she shares concerns about plans to cut funding to the centre.

Ms Sturgeon says she will ask the relevant minister to look into this.

Labour MSP Neil Bibby asks about the historic paddle steamer the Waverly and calls for government support for its repairs.

The first minister agrees we should all want to see the Waverly preserved and she will ensure the government does everything it can to support it.

SNP MSP Christine Grahame raises cuts planned by NHS Borders despite it receiving bailouts.

The health secretary will continue to look at this, replies Ms Sturgeon and she reiterates the expectation that NHS Borders works towards a sustainable financial position and ensures patient safety and care standards.
