D MacF emails: My wife and I boarded the 13.54 train at Waverley about half an hour before it departed on Tuesday (15th September). The train had four carriages. We were the first on.

By the time the train left Edinburgh I would estimate that there were not more than a dozen people on board. Just goes to show how difficult it must be to estimate demand for a completely new service. Then again, it wasn't the week-end and it was lunchtime. Like the London underground, there's bound to be a lot of empty carriages between peak periods.
