Welsh Secretary of State Alun Cairns has congratulated Carwyn Jones on his election success.

"Now that the elections are over, my overriding priority as Secretary of State is to work with the new Welsh Government - whichever parties it consists of - to deliver economic security for people in Wales," he said.

"As Wales advances to the next stage of devolution, my message to the new Welsh Government is that we put aside political differences and get on with the big job of delivering projects that will really benefit people's lives.

"If we can, then the Welsh people will be the real winners of this election."

RICS makes call for new Welsh Government to be 'ambitious'

    A new housing develoment

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' director in Wales, Ben Collins, said Carwyn Jones "must work harder to address the nation's ongoing housing crisis" during the fifth assembly.

"We would urge the first minister to be much more ambitious in his target in this area. Welsh Labour committed to 20,000 new affordable homes over the course of the term, but this falls some way short of the 56,000 that is needed," he added.
