    Zimbabwe's opposition MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa is insisting that he won Monday's election - the first since long-serving ruler Robert Mugabe was ousted in November.

    In a tweet addressed to the nation, Mr Chamisa, who is a pastor, said: "We have won the popular vote. You voted for total change in this past election! We have won this one together. No amount of results manipulation will alter tour will #Godsinit."

    The Zimbabwe's Electoral Commission (Zec) has failed to release presidential election results at its eagerly awaited press conference in the capital, Harare.

    Expectations were raised after the state broadcaster reported that the presidential result will be released.

  16. EU gives mixed verdict on Zimbabwe pollpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 1 August 2018

    "Improved political climate, but un-level playing field and lack of trust," that's the preliminary conclusion the European Union (EU) observer mission has reached about Zimbabwe's landmark elections.

    This is the first time in 16 years that the government has allowed the EU to monitor elections in Zimbabwe.

    Ex-President Robert Mugabe had a bad relationship with the EU, and banned them from monitoring elections.
