We're re-starting our live coverage after a gunman killed three people and wounded others, three of them critically, at one of Denmark's biggest shopping malls on Sunday.

Footage from inside the Copenhagen shopping centre shows people running in panic as gunshots are fired.

The chaotic scenes show people trying to flee the scene, and shoppers evacuating the Field's mall as emergency sirens ring out.

Eyewitness Maximilian von Renteln tells the BBC that he heard several shots just as he was about to enter the mall.

"At the time I didn't think that those shots were actual gunshots, because it's not something that you would imagine in a country like Denmark."

He said that the seriousness of the situation hit him shortly after when he saw people running out "screaming" and "crying".

Authorities in Copenhagen have asked people suffering to avoid contacting the city's main emergency line unless they have been seriously injured in the attack.

Writing on Twitter, officials with the capital region's health services urged anyone suffering from "minor injuries" to contact an alternate number for assistance.

"We try to keep 1-1-2 free for life-threatening injuries and illness," officials wrote.

The Danish Red Cross earlier tweeted that it has set up a dedicated helpline to offer counselling to anyone caught up in the shooting.

"If you need to talk to someone about the evening's terrible incident in Fields, the Victim Counselling in the Capital is open all night," the body wrote.

British singer Harry Styles has said he is "heartbroken" following the deadly shopping centre attack in Copenhagen, which took place less than a mile from where he was due to play to fans on Sunday evening.

The 28-year-old former One Direction star's concert was cancelled following the attack.

Many fans had already gathered at the Royal Arena when the venue was evacuated.

Posting to his verified Twitter account, Styles shared his love for the Danish capital and its residents, saying that he was "heartbroken" at the news.

"I’m devastated for the victims, their families, and everyone hurting.

"I’m sorry we couldn’t be together. Please look after each other."

The 22-year-old suspect in the deadly shopping mall shooting in Copenhagen was known to police "but only peripherally", the city's police chief told a press conference.

Soren Thomassen said earlier that three people had been killed and three of those wounded were in a critical condition in hospital following the attack on the Field's shopping centre.

The 22-year-old suspect has been charged and will face questioning by a judge on Monday.

Sunday's attack took place at one of Denmark's biggest shopping centres.

The Field's multi-storey shopping mall in the south of Copenhagen has more than 140 shops and restaurants and is located on the outskirts of the capital, near a subway line that connects it to the city centre.

Less than a mile away is the Royal Arena, the 17,000-capacity venue where Harry Styles was due to perform on Sunday before the show was cancelled.

The Danish royal family has condemned the attack on the Fields mall and has offered condolences to the families of the victims.

In a joint statement, Queen Margrethe and the Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary offered their "deepest sympathy with the victims, their relatives and all those who are affected by the tragedy".

“We do not yet know the full extent of the tragedy, but it is already clear that more people have lost their lives and that even more have been injured,” the statement said.

“The situation calls for unity and care,” the royal family added.

Earlier on Sunday evening it was announced that a reception due to be hosted by Crown Prince Frederik been cancelled.

The event had been organised to celebrate Denmark hosting the first three stages of the Tour de France.

Harry Styles fans gathered outside of a metro station after being evacuated from his concert in Copenhagen following the fatal shooting at a nearby shopping centre.

The arena Styles was due to play at is less than a mile from the scene of the shooting, at the Field's mall in the south of the Danish capital.

Crowds had already gathered inside the 17,000-capacity venue when the show's cancellation was announced and they were asked to leave.

Fans could be seen gathering outside the metro station in small groups after the concert was cancelled, as they prepared to make their journeys home.

Denmark has been hit by a cruel attack, the country's prime minister says in her first comments since the shooting.

Mette Frederiksen says she wants to encourage Danes to stand together and support each other in this difficult time.

And she says she sends her deepest sympathy to those who have lost their loved ones.

A picture has emerged of the alleged shooter inside Field's mall.

It shows a man wearing shorts and a short-sleeved dark top, carrying what appears to be a weapon.

The picture is from a video, which shows the man stopping momentarily, resting the apparent weapon on his shoulder, before starting to run through the shopping complex.

We've just got this footage which has been shared on social media showing chaotic scenes as people flee the shopping centre in panic, with the sound of gunfire ringing out.

A word of warning before you watch - you might find the content upsetting.

The leaders of several neighbouring European countries have expressed shock and horror at Sunday's shooting at the Fields mall.

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said she was "greatly saddened" to hear of the attack and condemned what she called a "shocking act of violence" in a short Twitter post.

Norwegian leader Jonas Gahr Store said his "thoughts go to the victims and their relatives and to the relief crews who are currently working to save lives".

And Irish Taoiseach Micheal Martin offered his "deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those killed and injured".

Another eyewitness, Lisbeth, was in the mall at the time of the attack and told Danish broadcasters she hid in the back of one of the shops.

"We heard a shot from the other side, two or three shots and then people panicked and started running towards the exits," she said.

"People went into the stores and the storefront fences were rolled down. We hid in the back."
