    Just four weeks old, still severely underweight and fighting for its life,

    Sammy the seal pup is recovering after being rescued from Bonne Nuit Bay in Jersey and and later flown to Guernsey for specialist treatment.

    Steven Corbet's body has been released for burial after the opening of the inquest into his death.

    The body of the 59-year-old was found at Pleinmont, Guernsey, six months after he was reported missing.

    His remains were "extensively decomposed and partially skeletalised" and he identified by a serial number on his knee replacement.

    The cause of his death is so far "unascertained", but samples were taken for toxicology.

    A final report is due to be issued once the laboratory investigations are completed.

    One of the 21 deputies who voted to scrap selection at the age of 11 says she considered writing an open letter about it. 

    Emails, leaked to BBC Guernsey, show 11 deputies wanted to publish a letter in the Guernsey Press, but the idea fell through.

    Deputy Emilie Yerby explained her reasons to BBC Radio Guernsey.

    The demand for Clematis from Guernsey is growing, according to a local business which has begun shipping its flowers to China.

    Guernsey Clematis Nursery is reporting continued growth, and is building a new glasshouse at its Route Militaire site to accommodate more business. 

    "Demand has driven sales increases. We have now got very good access to worldwide markets," says general manager Paul Ingrouille.

    The body of Steven Corbet, 59, was found at Pleinmont, Guernsey, a month before police were called, an inquest has heard.

    It was told a group of children told their mother they saw a leg in late November and a skull on 22 December, with her suggesting it was a scarecrow on both occasions.

    One of the children later spoke to their father who went to the pine forest on Christmas Eve and after checking the area called police.

    Guernsey's next stone aggregate quarry could be on the Chouet headland in the Vale, says SigmaRoc.

    A £45m take over deal of Ronez by SigmaRoc was completed yesterday.

    In his first interview to the BBC since his company bought Ronez, chief executive, Max Vermorken, says talks are ongoing with Guernsey's States about the next facility.

    He says a new site has to be found as Les Vardes Quarry in St Sampson's only has 10 to 12 years of life left.

    The identity of the body found near the pine forest in Guernsey has been confirmed to be missing man Steven Corbet.

    The 59-year-old was last seen on 27 June, the day he was released from police custody after being held overnight, and his body was found on Christmas Eve.

    He was identified by the serial number on the total knee replacement he received in 2012.

    A blind 84-year-old woman from Guernsey has won a Christmas lights competition.  

    Florence Le Pavoux's has been putting the illuminations up at her home in St Martins for more than a decade, despite barely being able see her own display.

    "She has entered the competition every year and loves Christmas. She plans her display and her sons put it up for her", says organisers, Island FM.
