    The CCTV camera in a shop which was robbed at knifepoint "stopped working minutes" before, says a Jersey shopkeeper. 

    Cash and two phones were stolen, leaving Bruno Alves "shaken" but unhurt, according to police who were called to Temple Stores on Stopford Road at 19:40 on Thursday.

    A Jersey shopkeeper says his "heart stopped" when he was robbed at knifepoint.

    Armed officers were called to Temple Stores on Stopford Road at 19:40 on Thursday after reports a thief had stolen cash and two phones, while brandishing a knife.

    "I was so scared when I saw the knife. All I could think about was my two little boys and I just gave him what he wanted," says shop owner, Bruno Alves.

    Police are looking for a man who is described as being 6ft tall and aged 35 to 40 years old. He was wearing a black leather style jacket with a silver hood.

    Jersey's maternity and paternity laws are a "barrier" to how long parents can stay off work to raise their children, according to a children's group.

    The Jersey Employment Forum is looking at whether working family rights should be extended.

    Current legislation entitles new mothers to two weeks of paid maternity leave and an extra six weeks of unpaid leave.

    The teenager has scored five goals in four games for the Green Lions since joining the club in December.

    A blind 84-year-old woman has won Guernsey's best Christmas lights competition.

    Despite barely being able see her own display, Florence Le Pavoux's has been putting the illuminations up at her home in St Martins for more than a decade. 

    Mrs Le Pavoux says she'll keep putting her display up for "as long as she can".

    A thief has stolen cash during a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Jersey, police say.

    Armed officers were called to Temple Stores on Stopford Road at 19:40 on Thursday.

    The shopkeeper was threatened at knifepoint by a man described as being 6ft tall and aged 35 to 40 years old. He was wearing a black leather style jacket with a silver hood. 

    Police said: "Cash was stolen from the shop till and the proprietor was badly shaken."

    Jersey international Jonty Jenner hopes a spell playing in South Africa will help his chances of breaking into the Sussex first-team squad.

    The 19-year-old batsman is to spend three months playing for Cape Town CC.

    High fares are behind a drop in passengers travelling between Jersey and Guernsey, says the head of a Channel Islands travel company.

    Robert MacKenzie, from CI Travel Group, was speaking after it emerged air passenger numbers fell by 10% last year to 113,000.

    Blue Islands, which operates the route with Flybe, says the decline is "regrettable" but due to a number of factors "outside the airline's control". The deal between Blue Islands and Flybe is currently the subject of a competition investigation
