  7. GFA to 'revisit' cancellation of women's Murattipublished at 08:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2017

    Tim Pryor
    BBC Sport

The Guernsey Football Association has said it will "revisit" its decision to cancel the 2017 women's Muratti.

Guernsey pulled out of the game against rivals Jersey because they could not convince enough players to register directly with the island's FA.

    Women's Muratti

But since then more than 25 players have offered to join clubs in Guernsey, hoping those affiliations will be enough to get the fixture back on.

The GFA has said those registrations will not go ahead - but say a "possible solution" will now be put forward to local players.

  9. Breast cancer trials a 'step forward'published at 08:18 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2017

    BBC Radio Jersey

Results from a clinical trial which scanned women for breast cancer without using radiation are proving positive.

Health bosses say the next step is to try this new technology out on younger women where cancers can prove harder to spot.

In Jersey, breast screening is offered to women aged between 50 and 69, because if you're younger than 50, the risk is generally very low.

A spokesperson from the charity Coppafeel - which educates people about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer - says anything that is able to help with an early diagnosis is a step forward.

  11. Waste strategy passed without amendmentspublished at 08:03 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2017

    Chris Quevatre
    BBC News Online

After two days of debate, Guernsey's waste strategy was passed unchanged last night.

Deputies rejected all proposed amendments to the strategy - including an end to kerbside recycling and overall targets, parish collections, and a further report into an on-island waste solution.

But ahead of an unrecorded vote on the overall strategy, Deputy Al Brouard reassured deputies they'd get a further chance to have their say.

    Quote Message

If there's a small increase in cost on the Waste Transfer Station, the Household Waste Recycling Centre or the site infrastructure at Longue Hougue, it'll be coming back for another debate. You will have another chance to vote on how the tyres hit the road, it'll be back in due course anyway."
