    The way politicians are elected in Jersey could change from May 2018, if politicians approve the changes on 2 May this year.

    The States of Jersey has already approved the reforms in principle. It will see 28 deputies elected in six large districts, rather than the current parish linked system. Constables and senators will remain the same.

    Last week politicians rejected calls to put the changes to the public in a referendum, so on 2 May they will decide whether they still want the changes to come in before the next election, external .

    Police say they are unable to confirm whether a body found in the sea at Pleinmont yesterday is that of Patrick Eker who was reported missing over the weekend.

    The disappearance of Mr Eker, 50, sparked a major search locally with police and other emergency services. 

    A body was found during the search.

    Authorities say the death of the man discovered is not being treated as suspicious, and formal identification is expected when a post-mortem examination takes place.

    A cruise-liner berth in Guernsey could mean greater ferry options for islanders, according to a planning authority member. 

    Speaking on the BBC Radio Guernsey Sunday phone-in Deputy Victoria Oliver give her backing to the idea of a deep-sea berth. She says such a berth could also be used by ferries.

    Deputy Oliver acknowledges it would be costly, but she says if it's value for money and benefits the economy, then the cost itself isn't a big issue.

    Jersey's Treasury Minister will be asked to give more details about the States plans to pay for the new hospital by the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel.

    Earlier this year, the States delayed plans to borrow £400m and pay it back over 40 years to allow the scrutiny panel to assess the plan in more detail.

    Senator Alan Maclean is due to meet politicians on the panel soon.

    Last week they were told by Infrastructure Minister, Deputy Eddie Noel that delays in securing funding could put off building companies from working with the States.

    Cricket's world governing body has confirmed that World Cricket League Five, featuring both Guernsey and Jersey, will be held near Johannesburg in September.

    Jersey had hoped to host the tournament, which they won on home turf in May, but were overlooked because of potential visa problems for some competing nations.

    Italy, the Cayman Islands, Vanuatu and three other countries will play alongside the two Channel Islands.

    According to a Guernsey clinical psychologist, children as young as six in the island are becoming "too focused on their weight".

    The information comes from the latest Young People's Survey. Dr James Murray says it is particularly worrying how many 10-year-old girls say they've been on a diet.

    A new filter in turn system has been installed at the Longfrie in Guernsey as part of moves to improve safety in the area.

    The work at the crossroads with Rue St Pierre was due to start earlier this month but was delayed several times because of bad weather. 

    Traffic and Highway Services say the changes to the junction will help reduce speeds and as a result hopefully cut the number of crashes.

    Rescue teams searching for Patrick Eker, who was reported missing on Sunday, have found a body of a man in the sea off Pleinmont.

    Police say they cannot confirm whether the body is Mr Eker's, as formal identification hasn't happened yet.

    Emergency services started to search for Mr Eker, 50, in the Pleinmont area on Sunday morning after concerns were raised for his welfare. He was last seen about 22:00 on Saturday night.

    The body was spotted by observers on the shore just under the car park where Mr Eker's vehicle was found.

    People in Alderney are being warned not to expect a "fantastic, modern air services at the lowest possible fares" by Deputy John Gollop.

    Mr Gollop says he's had many discussions with members of the local and business communities who want it both ways. He says, it's "simply not possible" to do that without significantly more States investment.

    It was a pretty wet February this year, and while that's not great for people out and about, it's been great for Jersey's reservoirs, which are now almost full.

    Earlier this year Jersey Water said it was concerned when the water levels in the reservoirs dropped to about a third full.

    Helier Smith from Jersey Water said a very wet February and what is predicted to be a fairly wet spring should keep the levels high enough to take us through the summer.
