    Sark Tourism has described being promoted on the Avis website as "great publicity". The hire car company mentioned Sark as a "great destination" to take your hire car and even featured a picture of the island.

    Unfortunately for Avis cars are banned on Sark. The only transport available is tractors, bicycles or horses.So taking a hire car isn't really an option.

    Avis made a donation to the Sark Sanctuary Centre and apologised for the mix up, saying they are sorry customers can't "drive on the islands amazing roads".

    Sark tourism said: "We welcome all visitors, who can island hop from Guernsey or Jersey leaving their cars to take a short ferry ride to Sark."

    The constable of St Helier says the parish will strictly enforce the speed limit inside the ring road if it is reduced to 20mph.

    Constable Simon Crowcroft was speaking after the Parish Roads Committee voted to reduce the limit to 20mph from 30mph. 

    That decision now has to be presented to the infrastructure minister who will have to decide whether to make any necessary changes to the law.

    Constable Crowcroft says it's time to clamp down on speeding motorists in what is a very built up area.

    Including Jersey in the UK's membership of the World Trade Organisation is one of the top Brexit priorities, according to Jersey's Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst.

    Theresa May has suggested the UK could fall back on WTO trade rules and tariffs to trade with Europe, but they do not apply to Jersey.

    Grants from Jersey Overseas Aid are improving sanitation and helping poor families in Rwanda grow more food. 

    The government panel is helping to fund a project that provides EcoSan toilets that are more hygienic and fertilise crops. 

    The WaterAid toilets close and seal themselves when filled up, the contents then compost over eight months and can be used on crops. They also don't need water.

    Long delays in releasing the Jersey care inquiry report could result in people losing faith in the process, according to the lawyer working with the victims.

    The report has now been delayed five months from its originally proposed release date and no date has been announced for its eventual release. 

    A spokesman for the inquiry said the latest delay was due to more evidence coming to light that needed to be investigated.

    Alan Collins is calling on the panel to explain the delays in more detail. He said: "There is always a risk that the longer the delay the greater the speculation behind the reasons for the delay." 

    Mr Collins has been representing the Jersey Care Leavers Association at the inquiry which began three years ago.

    A woman was prompted to call BBC Radio Guernsey's breakfast show after presenter Jim Cathcart mentioned on air that he was trying to find an asparagus costume.

    Rachel wanted to tell him that in her will there is a provision to provide money for her friend to buy a corn on the cob costume and wear it to her funeral. That has to be one of the strangest funeral provisions I've ever heard.

    Jersey Reds have signed four props for next season, including Fiji international Lee Roy Atalifo.

    The 28-year-old has nine caps for his country, appearing in the 2015 World Cup and as a replacement at Twickenham against England in November.

    Tight-head Alec Clarey, 23, will join from Bristol, with Jordan Brodley, 23, and Roy Godfrey, 27, also signing.

    Meanwhile, fellow prop Jake Armstrong has signed a new deal after initially joining Jersey last summer.

    "There is a great mix of experience in Roy and Lee Roy, and younger players like Alec and Jordan with genuine potential," said head coach Harvey Biljon.

    The Sark Sanctuary Centre charity will benefit from a mix up by car hire company Avis that featured the car-free island on their website as a destination.

    Avis had used a picture of La Coupee to advertise car hire services - despite cars not being allowed on the island. 

    This morning, its website still says, external you can take your car to Sark by ferry. It even says: "A leisurely drive around the island will take you past quaint cafes and restaurants."

    In a statement Avis said as a gesture of goodwill they will be making a donation to Sark Sanctuary Centre, a community facility for islanders and visitors.

    Jersey's only hotel specifically designed for people with a disability is celebrating it's 50th anniversary.

    Since opening, Maison Des Landes has hosted thousands of guests, and offered respite to families in the island.

    Chris Clarke, president of the trustees at the hotel, said the support and technology encourages guests to stay, and the atmosphere makes them want to come back.

    A teenage driver whose car rolled on to its roof in a crash on the Five Mile Road remains in a critical but stable condition at a specialist neurological unit in Southampton Hospital, a Health spokesman has confirmed, external.

    There is "a lack of evidence of any substantial progress being made" in the Guernsey's States Assembly, according to the President of Guernsey's Scrutiny Committee Deputy Chris Green.

    Speaking a year since the last general election, Deputy Green believes the States has still to deliver on some key election issues. He said there were a lot of promises at the last election but little tangible progress. 

    Senior politician, Deputy Gavin St Pier believes the new States is delivering. 

    He said: "This is the first year since the reform of the structure of government and I think the first observation I would make is that the reform has gone very smoothly. There were very few interruptions as a result of that."

    Delays in publishing the Jersey Independent Care Inquiry report are becoming "unacceptable" according to the lawyer working with the victims. 

    The £23m inquiry into historical child abuse in Jersey ended last year.

    Alan Collins has been representing the Jersey Care Leavers Association at the inquiry which began three years ago. 

    The report was first expected at the end of last year. It was then delayed until the end of March, but inquiry Chair Frances Oldham announced it was being put off again as the panel considered more evidence. 

    No indication has been given as to when it will now be released, and Mr Collins says victims are getting impatient.
