Jersey captain Cavaghn Miley joined National League side Eastleigh this summer after being recommended by former island boss Brian Little.

"It's a brave step. It needs family and people around them who are able to support them. If you can get the opportunity at a club, you could find yourself on a small wage. It won't be the same as full-time work, but it is a brave step."

Dive inspections overnight found damage to the Condor Liberation's three jet propulsion buckets, the company said, causing it to be cancelled until November.

The buckets formed part of the vessel's directional guidance system, a spokesman said, and the issues required a "more detailed investigation".

The Liberation is to enter dry dock between 7 November and 13 December, with the Condor Rapide covering its route.

The Rapide would cover the cross-channel route, Condor said.

A spokesman said customers had the option to transfer to an alternative service or receive a full refund.

His promoter, Dennis Hobson, said it was the venue's decision to cancel the event.

But Constable Steve Pallett, the minister responsible for sport, said it was the promoter's choice, adding there were "issues" to be resolved as late as last Thursday.

Mr Hobson said they had not given the venue a deposit in time, but this was due to the lack of flexibility in Fort Regent's ticketing policy, which they asked to be changed.

He said if a parish had empty buildings, especially those which were no longer "fit for their original purpose", these should be released back into the marketplace to allow for the building of new homes.

The constable said a "financial" penalty should be used against people who were "sitting on an empty property, just for the sake of it".

Ms Le Feuvre-Moore said her family had spent decades renovating their property and the area around it, but about 70% of their land had been destroyed.

The Environment and Infrastructure Committee said installing the charging points would increase "convenience" for St Peter Port residents with no access to a domestic charging points, and for visiting electric vehicle drivers.
