    St Saviour's Church in Guernsey is asking the public for any information about the men named on its war memorial ahead of the centenary of the end of World War One.

    The church wants to gather photos and stories about the men who all came from St Saviour and died during the war for Remembrance Sunday.

    Church staff say they want to "bring the memorial to life."

    Julie Bulpitt from St Saviour's Church says it is important Guernsey remembers its fallen soldiers in all wars, including more modern conflicts such as the Falklands War.

    The Portsmouth forward got 45% of the votes - 30% ahead of Peterborough forward Jack Marriott who finished second.

    The 30-year-old has scored seven goals in his last five games as Pompey moved to the edge of the play-off places.

    A commercial seaplane service between St Peter Port and St Helier could be up and running by the end of June, a company has said.

    Clear Harbour Airways, based in Jersey, is behind the bid to start up a service offering as many as 10 flights a day. It is partners with the Harbour Air Group, a Canadian company.

    Its founder, Benjamin Hill, says the company working with regulators in Guernsey, who have given permission for the airline to operate under a Foreign Air Operators Certificate.

    He said the company also hopes to operate in Alderney.

    Mr Hill said berths had been found in both islands for the company's 14 seater DHC-3 aircraft.

    The island premiere of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society will be screened later today at about 20:00.

    The film - based on the bestselling novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows - premiered in London earlier this week.

    The film sees Lily James (Darkest Hour, Baby Driver, Downtown Abbey, Cinderella) play writer Juliet Ashton, who meets a book club formed during the German occupation of the island, and later decides to write a book about it.

    It means that Beau Sejour Leisure Centre will close early.

    Nominations have closed for all candidates running in Jersey's general election this year.

    In total there are 49 seats in the States Assembly up for grabs, eight senators, 12 constables and 29 deputies.

    On Tuesday 17 candidates formally declared they intend to stand for senator and last night, it was the turn of Jersey's deputies and constables.

    Thirteen candidates were elected unopposed - three deputies and 10 constables, including three newcomers to the role - leaving 36 seats remaining.

    Candidates now have 34 campaigning days ahead of the election on 16 May.
