A company is working with the States of Guernsey to build 22 affordable flats and houses for "key workers" employed in the island's health services.
Guernsey Housing Association (GHA), which will own and run the site, said the development at Beauville, Ville au Roi, in St Peter Port would "help recruit and retain" staff.
According to the association 14 one-bed flats, two two-bed houses and six three-bed houses will be provided. It is expected to be completed by July 2019 and will cost about £3.4m.
GHA said the land has been provided at a "discounted price" by the States, which would help the project's finance and keep rent down.
Deputy Heidi Soulsby, President of the Committee for Health and Social Care, said the new properties would play a part in "attracting quality staff" to the island.
