BBC Radio JerseyEU citizens hoping to continue living in Jersey after Brexit will have to reveal their criminal history, the States of Jersey has said.
Assistant Home Affairs Minister, Deputy Gregory Guida says those found to have a "serious" or "persistent" criminal past could be told they are not allowed to stay.
Deputy Guida said the government was still deciding what "serious" or "persistent" meant, but suggested it could affect EU citizens which have spent more than 12 months in jail in the past five years.
The States recently announced non-UK passport holders will be asked to apply for "settled status" from the start of 2021.
They will also be asked to prove both their identity, and how long they have already lived in the island.

BBC Radio JerseyA man in his 50s has died in a car crash in Jersey.
Image source, GoogleEmergency services were called to La Pulente Hill at about 08:45 on Sunday.
It followed reports a silver Peugeot 307 travelling south, up the hill, had crashed.
No other vehicles were involved.
Specially trained officers are supporting the man's next of kin, police said.
