    BBC Radio Jersey

A vehicle appears to have damaged a 4.5ft (1.4m) boundary wall on La Grande Route de St Clement, opposite the entrance to Samares Manor, say Jersey Police.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen a vehicle hit this wall and then drive off or who has any information concerning this incident - understood to have happened at about 09:30 on Saturday 27 October 2018.

  3. EU citizens to pay £25 to remain in Jersey after Brexit

    Freddie Miller

    BBC Jersey political reporter

EU citizens who want to continue living in Jersey after Brexit will have to pay a £25 application fee for adults and £12.50 for children, according to the home affairs minister.

Constable Len Norman insists it is a "pretty small price to pay" for islanders to be absolutely certain they can remain in the island forever.

The charges will be introduced as part of the government's "settled status scheme", which is due to be launched in January and was revealed at the Education and Home Affairs scrutiny hearing.

  5. Pointes Rocques campaigners urge objections

    BBC Radio Guernsey

A group opposed to a substantial housing development at Pointes Rocques in St Sampson is urging people to consider writing an objection to the planning authority, as the original submissions are now invalid.

The developers, who want to build homes and flats on the old vinery site, have already altered their plans to provide improved vehicle access.

    Pointes Rocques

Plans were originally filed in 2017 proposing that the unused St Clair Vinery be converted into 83 dwellings.

That was met with backlash, followed by a protest march, as residents felt it could have a negative affect on the area due to increased traffic congestion, as well as an overriding feeling that development was only ever taking place in the north of the island.

Plans were resubmitted providing two access points but now, the Delancey Conservation Committee has issued a call to arms, as the original submissions against the development have expired.

It's sending out flyers urging anyone who is against the development to resubmit their objections by 2 November.

  8. Guernsey FC win thriller at Footes Lane

    Hayden Atkins

    Reporter, BBC Radio Guernsey

Here's my summary of Saturday's game between Guernsey FC and Haywards Heath at Footes Lane:

    • Four goals
    • Two saved penalties
    • One red card

If you weren't there, you should have been.

Kieran Mahon was sent off in the 17th minute, meaning the Green Lions had to play for more than 80 minutes with 10 men.

Carlos Canha scored his first goal for the club to make the score 1-0, before Matt Loaring doubled the hosts lead with a calmly finished one-on-one.

Frank Tobin then brought down Andrew Dalhouse in the box to concede a penalty, but Guernsey's star goalkeeper Callum Stanton got down low to his right and parried it out of danger.

Shortly before half-time, Charlton Gauvain - quickly becoming Guernsey's most valuable prospect - scored an incredible solo effort, running from his own half - beating several players for pace - before slotting a left-footed shot into the top corner.

Haywards Heath got a goal back five minutes into the second half, before winning another penalty for a Guernsey handball.

This time Stanton dived left, and once again kept the visitors at bay.

  9. Fire destroys shed in St Mary's

    Chris Quevatre

    BBC News Online

Firefighters have tackled a blaze at a farm in St Mary's, Jersey.

A member of the public raised the alarm at 01:27 on Sunday, after they saw smoke and flames rising from a field.

    Fire

The structure on fire was a wood storage shed.

Two appliances from States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service attended with breathing apparatus, but the "scarceness of water supplies in the area" meant they called for a water carrier.

Crews remained on the scene for more than two hours, extinguishing the fire and damping down.

  10. CI weather: Sunshine and showers

    BBC Weather

Sunshine at times but there will be showers too, driven in on a fresh north-east wind.

Staying breezy this afternoon with the chance of further showers but also sunny spells.

A few further showers this evening and overnight but in general, rather a lot of dry weather is expected and there should be some clear spells too.

  11. Prison work to be paid for by criminals

    BBC Radio Jersey

Money seized from criminals will pay for the next phase of work at Jersey's prison.

Work to modernise HM Prison La Moye began in 2006, and has so far provided an additional 41 cells and a new kitchen block.

The next phase will include the replacement of the secure vehicle gate and the completion of the visitor entrance and search areas.

The Criminal Offences Confiscation Fund - made from money seized from criminals - will pay for the majority of the work.
