Trump is heading to his new property, the White House, soon.

But he just told Congressmen at a lunch on Capitol Hill: "We all want the same thing. We're all good people. Whether you're Republican or Democrat, it doesn't make any difference. We're gonna get along."

Obama took office with the same healing message of bipartisanship, before Congress was engulfed by political trench warfare about 90 seconds later.

Wonder how long the kumbaya moment will last this time around.

Pope Francis has previously made statements that seemed to question the president's faith.

Pope Francis said in a message to Donald Trump after he was inaugurated that he should show concern for the poor, and be guided by ethical values.

"Under your leadership, may America's stature continue to be measured above all by its concern for the poor, the outcast and those in need ...," the Pontiff wrote.

In February 2016 Trump called the Pope "disgraceful" after the head of the Catholic church said that building walls, "is not Christian".

The remark was seen as a veiled criticism of Trump's proposed border wall with Mexico.

In a press release from February with the title "Donald J Trump's Response to the Pope, external", Mr Trump laid into Pope Francis, who he called "a very political person" but he later hadded that the Pontiff "seemed like a pretty good guy".

The new first lady, Melania Trump, "completely overshadowed" her predecessor in her choice of outfit for the inauguration, writes Slovene daily Svet24, external.

Opting to wear a combination designed by Ralph Lauren, Trump perhaps also aimed to take a little poke at Hillary Clinton, a fan of the same designer, according to the paper.

Slovene fashion critics - who had long been waiting to see what Melania would choose to wear - immediately agreed that with "such elegance" she "definitely overshadowed everyone around her" and that she could be compared to "one and only Jackie Kennedy".

  18. Obama's goodbye to jihadistspublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2017

Before leaving office, Obama ordered two major counter-terrorism air strikes.

Just before the inauguration ceremony began, the Associated Press reported that a B-52 bomber hit an al-Qaeda training camp in Syria on Thursday, killing more than 100 people.

A defence official describes those killed as "core" members, who had moved to Syria early last year to establish a foothold, rather than members of the Nusra Front, which is a local al-Qaeda affiliate.

Less than 24 hours earlier a combination of B-2 stealth bombers and drones struck two military camps in a remote part of Libya, killing up to 90 militants, according to Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook.

Some have complained that Trump owed rival Hillary Clinton a mention in his inaugural speech, given that she attended his big day.

But according to the Washington Post, when she and former President Bill Clinton arrived at the swearing-in luncheon, Trump walked to the Clintons’ table and shook her hand.

"Thank you for being here," Trump reportedly whispered.
