The US democractic system has set itself "the toughest test for at least a century", James Fallows, a national correspondent for The Atlantic, told the Today programme.
Mr Fallows said he had kept a daily record of things Mr Trump said or did that were "outside the modern norms" expected of a presidential candidate.
