    Police say he shot and killed himself inside the white van that Torrance police officers surrounded a few hours ago.

    Aerial footage showed the van in a carpark pinned between three armoured vehicles, called BearCats.

    Ten heavily armed officers approached it and smashed the passenger side window to gain entry.

    A law enforcement source told the outlet he apparently shot and killed himself inside the white van that Torrance officers surrounded a few hours ago.

    We're yet to hear police officially confirm this in a statement, or confirm that the person who was barricaded in the white van is the same man who killed 10 people in Monterey Park.

    Vice President Kamala Harris said "senseless" gun violence in the US "must stop", commenting on the Monterey Park shooting.

    She represented California in the US Senate before becoming vice president.

    "A time of a cultural celebration and yet another community has been torn apart by senseless gun violence," she said in Florida, before making a speech on abortion rights.

    Harris said she and her husband Doug, along with President Biden and the First Lady, were "in mourning for those who were killed, as we pray for those who were injured and as we grieve for those many people whose lives are forever changed".

    "All of us in this room and in our country understand this violence must stop - and President Biden and I will continue to provide full support to the local authorities as we learn more."

    There were heroes at the Lai Lai Ballroom who reportedly tackled and wrestled a gunman and disarmed him before he could enter the club.

    LA County Sheriff Robert Luna said they believe the man who was tackled at Lai Lai was the same man who shot and killed 10 people two miles away at Star Dance Studio in Monterey Park. Ballroom dancers are known to frequent both clubs and it’s a tight-knit circle.

    Several officials in Torrance, California have just spoken briefly to the media about the stand-off with a white van, which police believe may have been linked to the shootings in nearby Monterey Park.

    They would not give any more information on the incident or the potential suspect, despite questions from journalists.

    Torrance Mayor George Chen praised the law enforcement officers, who he said "had the instinct to know something was not right with the van".

    "Words cannot say how much we are grieving with the family members who suffered through these tragic events," he added.

    Another news conference will take place in about 90 minutes with officials from Monterey Park.

    Authorities have moved in to inspect a second white cargo van that was apparently parked in the same area as the first.

    They're searching for the suspect in a shooting that left 10 people dead and more injured. They've said that a white van is a "vehicle of interest".

    Swat officers were seen opening the back of the second vehicle.

    • Police have released pictures of the suspected shooter, but they are withholding his name for the time being

    After more than two hours, the stand-off between police officers and the white van in Torrance - which may be linked to the shooting in Monterey Park - has ended.

    Live footage from the scene showed police officers moving away from the van, with some officers driving away in their BearCat, an armoured vehicle.

    Local news channel ABC7 is reporting that a man was found dead inside the van. That is still unconfirmed, however.

    The identity of anyone in the van - and whether it was the suspected shooter - remains unclear.
