    Officials in Kansas City are now briefing the media.

    Mayor Quinton Lucas begins the press conference, and confirms that all the players and staff of the Kansas City Chiefs are safe.

    The city went out today "looking to have a celebration", he says, but that was "marred by a shooting".

    He adds that he was one of the people who ran for safety when the shooting started, and witnessed aid given to the victims by the city's emergency services.

    Missouri Governor Mike Parson has been safely evacuated after being present when shots were fired at Union Station, his office has said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

    Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says she has also been "evacuated and out of harm's way" after shots rang out at the Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City.

    In a post on X, external, Kelly says that the shots were fired near Union Station in downtown Kansas City, and urged everyone to "follow instructions and updates from the police".

    "Please stay safe."

    At least one person has been killed in Wednesday's shooting, Kansas City's Fire Department has told the BBC.

    Nine more were injured.

    Three people suffered critical injuries and five more were seriously injured, officials said.

    Several people have been shot in Kansas City, Missouri, at a parade celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs' win in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

    The victory parade ended outside Union Station in downtown Kansas City, and local reports said the players were still on a stage that when shots rang out.
