Kanye West claims a major US supermarket has banned his new album cover

Kanye West has gone on Twitter claiming a top supermarket in the States has "banned" the cover for his unreleased album.

The rapper said: "Banned in the USA!!! They don't want me chilling on the couch with my phoenix."

He then tweeted a picture of the cover and added: "I know that cover just blew y'all minds ... I wish y'all could see how hard I'm smiling right now!!! "

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is out on 22 November.

He went on to tweet: "In all honesty ... I really don't be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers.

"In the 70s album covers had actual nudity... It's so funny that people forget that... Everything has been so commercialized now.

The star continued: "I wanna sell albums but not at the expense of my true creativity."

This is not the first time the rapper has shown his work to fans ahead of its official release.

West has been giving away a track or remix from the unreleased record every Friday since last month, in an event he dubbed Good Fridays.

"So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can't have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings."

Wal-Mart say they have not rejected the cover artwork. In fact it has never been shown to them.
