Jason Derulo has been announced as the co-host of this year's Mobo Awards.

The R&B singer said he was "excited" to be coming back to the UK to front the event with this year's ceremony being held in Glasgow in October.

Jessie J, Katy B and Alexis Jordan are all scheduled to perform but it has not been revealed who will present alongside Derulo.

"It's a real honour to be presenting and performing at the Mobo Awards this year," the US star said.

"It's such a huge event to be part of and I'm super excited to come back to the UK, it's going to be a lot of fun."

Jason Derulo has scored two number one hits in the UK with his singles In My Head and Don't Wanna Go Home and is a previous Mobo nominee.

It will be the second time the Mobos have taken place in Glasgow.

The city also hosted the event in 2009, the first time it had been held outside of London.

The Music of Black Origin Awards were launched in 1996 by founder Kanya King.

The annual ceremony recognises urban music genres such as R&B, hip hop, reggae, gospel and jazz.

The event traditionally has two hosts who share presenting duties.

Previous hosts include Alesha Dixon, Keri Hilson, Lil' Kim, Blu Cantrell and Wyclef Jean.
