Rapper Example heads into UK arenas in 2012

Rapper Example has announced details of his first headline UK arena tour.

He'll kick off the run at Aberdeen's Exhibition and Conference Centre on 24 April.

His third album Playing In The Shadows is currently number one in the UK album chart.

In 2011 Example, whose real name is Elliot Gleave, has enjoyed number one singles with Changed The Way You Kissed Me and Stay Awake.

Tickets go on general sale on Friday 16 September.

Speaking to Newsbeat in June Example said: "The ultimate goal for me is now to carry on releasing albums and touring until I get to Wembley Stadium.

"Two, three years ago I wouldn't be able to say that. I was ambitious but didn't know where I was going. Now, I know what my sound is."
