Rihanna has the longest run at London's O2 for a solo female artist

Rihanna will headline the Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park next year, her only UK appearance of 2012.

The singer, whose hits include Only Girl (In The World) and Umbrella, will perform on the Sunday night of the event on 8 July.

Rihanna is currently on her Loud tour in Europe having sold more than 320,000 tickets for the UK leg of the tour.

Tickets for the Wireless Festival go on sale on Friday 18 November.

They will cost £52.50 plus a booking fee.

Last year's event featured headliners the Black Eyed Peas, the Chemical Brothers and Pulp.

Rihanna caused a row in September when she wore jeans and a bikini while filming in County Down.

A farmer, whose land she was using, ordered her to cover up saying he felt her clothing was "inappropriate."

She was also forced to defend one of her music videos in June, Man Down, which showed a man being shot in the head.
