Glastonbury headliners 'chosen' for 2013, says Eavis

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis says next year's headliners are "already sorted".

The 76-year-old revealed the news as he picked up a lifetime achievement award at the European festival awards in Groningen, Holland.

He also says he wants the festival to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2020.

Eavis said he was "determined" to see the event reach the milestone after Glastonbury celebrated its 40th birthday in 2010.

He said: "I'm really determined somehow or other to make the 50 years - I don't see why I shouldn't make it.

"Strangely enough, I do feel incredibly fit. I don't see why I shouldn't make it.

"I've got the bands who want to play and the people who want to buy the tickets so why shouldn't we carry on?"

The 2011 weekender saw headline performances from U2, Coldplay and Beyonce.

In keeping with their traditional cycle, the festival will take a year off in 2012, but return next year.

Speaking at this year's European festival awards at the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen, Holland, he added: "I was so pleased to be so well received by these people and seen to be some source of inspiration or guidance."

Coldplay, who weren't in attendance, were the big musical winners on the night including taking the prize for best festival headliner.
