Coachella Valley and Arts festival will take place over two weekends in 2013, after trialling the idea for the first time last month.
An identical bill of artists performed over two consecutive weekends in April.
Organisers said the split was to accommodate the number of people wanting to attend the festival.
Next year's shows will take place on 12-14 April and 19-21 April in Indio, California.
Early bird tickets go on sale on 17 May with general passes released in 2013.
This year's festival was headlined by The Black Keys, Radiohead and Snoop Dogg & Dr Dre.
Their performance featured a 3D projection of dead rapper Tupac Shakur.
The weekend also saw performances from David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Florence & The Machine.
