Cheryl Cole has told Newsbeat she can't wait to see band mate Kimberley Walsh take part on Strictly Come Dancing.

"I think it's amazing. I can't wait actually."

The Girls Aloud singer will compete on the show against Olympic gold medal cyclist Victoria Pendleton and gymnast Louis Smith.

"I'm gonna go watch as much as I can" said Cheryl who claims she'll need to talk to 30-year-old Kimberley who can be her own biggest critic.

"She's really hard on herself that's the only thing I worry about."

Rehearsals for the show have already started. At the weekend Kimberley Walsh tweeted a picture of herself practising with dancer Anton du Beke.

Girls Aloud are currently recording material to mark their 10 year anniversary. Cheryl says she's worried about Kimberley's close attention to details.

"She is a perfectionist and if she doesn't feel like she's doing it perfectly she'll give herself a hard time. So I am going to have to rein that in."

Other stars already confirmed as taking part include Tracy Beaker actress Dani Harmer, Westlife singer Nicky Byrne and Daybreak presenter Richard Arnold.

The remaining eight celebrity contestants taking part will be announced later today.

While their professional dance partners will be named at the start of the show Saturday night.
