Girls Aloud are releasing their new single, Something New, to radio stations early after the song was leaked online.
The group had been planning to reveal a special announcement on 19 October.
Although it's believed the girls were reforming to coincide with their 10th anniversary, the details of their comeback were being kept secret.
Instead, someone leaked their new track online and fans managed to watch the video on YouTube before it was pulled.
The song will now be played from midday today (16 October).
Anniversary countdown
The band have recently set up a Twitter account.
After the decision was made to bring forward the radio play date for the single, Girls Aloud posted on the site.
"It's here! The finished version of Something New will be played on radio from midday and will also be on YouTube to listen in full."
The front page of the band's official website had launched a pink countdown clock with the word TEN written above it, anticipating the announcement on Friday.
Other rumoured plans for the reunion include recording this year's Children In Need single plus an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, with Kimberley Walsh on the show this year.
'Quite proud'
Girls Aloud formed after appearing on Popstars: The Rivals.
The five-piece - Walsh, Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts - made their first live appearance on the show on 19 October 2002.
In an earlier interview with Newsbeat, Kimberley Walsh said she was proud to celebrate 10 years in the music industry.
"I'm kind of flattered people actually care if we come back or not," she said.
"I think we are all quite proud that we made enough of an impact to be able to a comeback."
