Avicii: Debut album is a weight off my shoulders

Avicii has said that releasing his debut album has been a "weight off my shoulders" after more than two years working on it.

"It took me so long. The album was by far the biggest thing I have done," he said.

"It's so far away from anything I have ever done musically so it's like a weight off my shoulders that everything went the way it did," the DJ added.

Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, has had hits with Wake Me Up and You Make Me.

Both feature on his debut, True, which is released today (16 September).

"Every track is different, it's a difference genre. What makes it make sense is it's very melodic

"If you like Wake Me Up you're going to like the album as a whole," said the 24-year-old, who is originally from Sweden.

He has worked with Nile Rodgers, whose most recent success has been with Daft Punk on Random Access Memories, and American Idol star Adam Lambert.

"I've been a fan of Nile for a long time, especially his music. You don't even know that he's behind some of the music that's out there.

"We just influence each other and give each other ideas and we feed off each other. The same with Adam too. We're a good team for sure."

Once he has finished promoting this album, Avicii has said he would like to take a break.

"The way I look at it, I've been on a world tour for four years now.

"I will just relax and try to just enjoy myself for a bit. Take it all in and realise what's happening because I haven't done that since I started."
