  1. Dundee 0-0 Ross County: Analysispublished at 22:30 24 October 2023

    Andrew Petrie, BBC Sport Scotland

A night with 21 shots and no goals to show for it. Dundee dominated most of the stats - nine shots on target, more possession, more touches in the opposition box - but they couldn't sufficiently test Ross Laidlaw.

Of course, it will encourage Tony Docherty that his side created so much - and how well his substitutes did - but these are the kind of nights they need to take maximum points from. That's five draws from eight outings now.

Admittedly way too early for a six-pointer, but both sides lacked a clinical edge that they will need to find before the season is done - or else rely on St Johnstone's poor form to continue.

  3. Dundee 0-0 Ross County: What the manager saidpublished at 22:25 24 October 2023

Tony Docherty tells BBC Sportsound: "It did look like two teams that have not been playing com football for a while. I was pleased with how we started - on the front foot, our centre backs were stepping out, we were getting into good areas.

"But after 10 or 15 minutes, it became a game that didn't suit us. It became a bit stodgy and that favoured the opposition. So the overriding feeling is disappointment, but the important thing to focus on is the unbeaten home run, and we kept a clean sheet.

[On Charlie Reilly] "He's got pace, athleticism, he's positive and he's a great finished. This step up is a big demand and his body is adapting to that. He'll be a pivotal member of our squad now he's back. I thought he was going to score the winner at the end."

Finlay Robertson. The young midfielder was handed an opportunity to impress, and he did.

His final delivery needs to improve, but he was pivotal in the middle of the park and didn't look out of place.

His breakthrough feels like a while ago now. At 20, he needs to kick on this season.

  5. Dundee v Ross County: Team newspublished at 19:08 24 October 2023

Tony Docherty makes two changes from the Dundee side that frustrated Hibs in a 0-0 draw at Easter Road before the international break.

Stalwarts swap places as Jordan McGhee comes in for Cammy Kerr, while two impressive youngsters account for the other switch, with Lyall Cameron dropping out for Finlay Robertson.

Ross County make three alterations as top scorer Simon Murray returns, with Dylan Smith coming back into the heart of defence and Victor Loturi partnering Connor Randall in midfield.

Kyle Turner and Alex Samuel drop to the bench, with Will Nightingale missing out completely.

Just as quickly as this will be published, in less than 24 hours, it will be out of date.

That's because we have absolutely nothing to speak about. Zilch.

Storm Babet saw Saturday night's game away to Aberdeen postponed, there was the international break before that, and with tonight's clash with Ross County also delayed from its original date, Dundee have gone 24 days without a game.

I've already spoke about our chances this season, Tony Docherty's babes making an impact and the big news of Dens being bought back by our owners.

So that means, I'm all out of ideas, but the way I like to look at it, no news is good news when it comes to Dundee, especially given all the troubles we have gone through the past two decades.

We take on Ross County tonight under the lights at Dens in our rearranged fixture.

Both teams will be looking for the win here to move onto double figures in the league table. The league table is still close and there is potential of both teams being placed anywhere between fifth and 11th before the end of the night.

The last time we welcomed County to Dens early in the season for a midweek game, it ended in a 5-0 triumph for County.

Let's hope for a different ending tonight.

  8. Dundee v Ross County: Team newspublished at 19:32 23 October 2023

Dundee midfielder Josh Mulligan completes a two-match ban, while boss Tony Docherty has doubts over Scott Tiffoney, Zach Robinson and Lyall Cameron.

Ross County remain without Josh Sims (leg wound), Josh Reid (toe), Ross Callachan and Ben Paton (both long-term knee injuries).

  9. 'The players are champing at the bit' - Dochertypublished at 17:20 23 October 2023

Dundee manager Tony Docherty wants his players to pick up where they left off before the international break when they host Ross County on Tuesday.

The game was originally scheduled for October 7, but was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, before which Dundee had lost just one in five.

Storm Babat meant that their game at the weekend against Aberdeen was also called off, but Docherty has challenged his players to mark their return to league action with a bang.

“The players are champing at the bit," he said. "We haven’t had a game since September 30.

“We need to remember that we had real momentum going forward, it was a positive performance against Hibs away from home and prior to that we had a really positive performance going down to 10 men against Kilmarnock and getting a point.

“The players are in a good place now. It is important that we keep the confidence levels.

“So we need to maintain those performance levels, maintain the momentum we had. Although it has been tough not having a game for three weeks, I can’t praise the boys highly enough in terms of their training.

“We had a bounce game, a testimonial game and a couple of closed-doors games to keep them ticking over and even the training session we had this morning, I can really feel a hunger about them to get back into things so looking forward to the game.

“I get the feeling that the boys are up for it and looking forward to it."
