  1. Docherty wants Dens to 'show its strength' to Rangerspublished at 17:18 30 October 2023

Dundee manager Tony Docherty wants Dens Park to "show its strength" when Rangers make their midweek trip to Tayside.

Docherty says his players are "in a confident mood" following Saturday's victory at Livingston, which extended their unbeaten run to four games.

And the Dundee boss hopes the home fans can use the current feelgood factor to make Wednesday's match an "intimidating" one for Philippe Clement's men.

"I want the fans to play a real part," he says. "The fans have been outstanding since I've come in, home and away.

"You saw them against Livingston at the weekend. But I would ask them give this one a big push."

  3. 'Big call from the manager' pays offpublished at 13:29 29 October 2023

We asked for your views following Dundee's win over Livingston...

Doug: It was swings and roundabouts as regards VAR decisions for Dundee this week; the disallowed goal against Livingston was a very harsh decision, but exactly the same can be said of Ross County’s disallowed goal against Dundee on Tuesday night.

Kevin: Big call from the manager at half time to change to two up top made all the difference, we were a different team altogether.

Rod: Some of my fellow Dundee fans can be fickle but hopefully even they can see the stability in this team. This is no yo-yo side and a top six finish is possible with no fear of relegation. Doc knows what he is doing and we have lost the least games outside of Celtic and St Mirren. We could do with one of the strikers going on a run though (fickle).

Rob: Following the live results from over in the Philippines, what a great result. My birthday is on Wednesday 1st of November, bring on the Gers!!!!

Bob: Going in the right direction. If we had a goal scorer a couple of these draws would have been wins. Against Ross County we had three of our creative players out with injury. When a team arrive and have 6 across the back and 3/4 in front it’s going to be difficult. Still did enough and should still have won.

  4. Skipper Shaughnessy's shock at dramatic late doublepublished at 09:59 29 October 2023

Kenny Crawford, BBC Scotland at Tony Macaroni Arena

Dundee captain Joe Shaughnessy is as shocked as anyone that he ended up being the goal hero for the Dark Blues in their win against Livingston, which lifted Tony Docherty’s men to fourth in the Premiership.

“I surprised myself and so were most of the lads,” Shaughnessy told BBC Scotland.

“We did shooting practice during the week and I put two balls over the fence.

“It’s good to get points on the board and change a couple of draws into wins.

“It’s a good win at a hard place to come. The clean sheet was brilliant as well.”

  5. Livingston 0-2 Dundee: What did the manager say?published at 17:39 28 October 2023

Dundee manager Tony Docherty: "Huge credit to the players for their second half performance, I wasn't pleased with the first-half performance I thought we were too safe.

"I really asked them to up it in the second half, I decided to be more offensive going with two strikers and I thought [Amadou] Bakayoko made a huge impression on the game.

"I just said to the players there, I was really confident we could go and win the game but even if they didn't win that second half, that’s the way I want to play.

"I’m really pleased with the performance and I’m pleased for the players that they got that result."

    On Bakayoko's disallowed strike.

“Really surprised, when you see a shot from the edge of the box, you don’t really see anything in front of it.

“I’ve not watched it back yet so I can’t really comment on it, but I was really surprised that first of all they had to go to the monitor and then that they never gave the goal.

“I’ll need to see it back but I was really surprised."

  6. Livingston 0-2 Dundee: Analysispublished at 17:15 28 October 2023

Kenny Crawford, BBC Sport Scotland at Tony Macaroni Arena

Dundee had been starting to earn the label of 'draw specialists', so Tony Docherty will be delighted to have earned a first win for the Dark Blues since the end of August.

Given the nature of Bakayoko's disallowed strike, the manager will feel it's nothing less than his side deserved.

Goals have not been easy to come by for the Dens Park club this season and the captain Joe Shaughnessy stepping up to the plate will be welcomed by all at Dens Park.

It may be a tight middle of the division, but Dundee being fourth a quarter of the way through the Premiership season is remarkable.

  7. Livingston 0-2 Dundee: Who impressed?published at 17:05 28 October 2023

    Luke McCowan did.

In a first half with little quality, McCowan was a standout with his mazy run a highlight.

After the interval he assisted Amadou Bakayoko's ultimately ruled out effort and continued to be a source of attacking inspiration for his side.

  8. Three changes for Tony Dochertypublished at 14:34 28 October 2023

Dundee manager Tony Docherty opts for three changes from the side that played out a goalless midweek draw with Ross County.

Ricki Lamie, Finlay Robertson, and Amadou Bakayoko all drop out, to be replaced by Lyall Cameron, Mo Sylla, and Aaron Donnelly.

The latter is making his Dundee debut, on loan from Nottingham Forest.
