Savile report author: 'Everyone has the right to feel safe in hospital'
A report into the conduct of Jimmy Savile at NHS hospitals has outlined how the disgraced TV and radio celebrity was left free to sexually abuse hospital staff and patients.
Report author Kate Lampard said contributing factors were the social attitudes of the time, fragmented hospital management structures, and less public understanding and acknowledgment of sexual abuse.
''Many of the features of the Savile story have relevance and implications for today's NHS,'' she said.
''Everyone has the right to feel safe in hospital''.
