VJ Day: Pictures of the 70th anniversary commemorations

To mark the 70th anniversary of Japan's surrender, which brought about the end of World War Two, commemorations have been taking place across the UK. Here is a summary of VJ Day events in pictures:

Commemorations began with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh attending a service at the St Martin-in-the-Fields church in central London

The hour-long service was led by Reverend Dr Sam Wells and attended by about 200 people, including Prime Minister David Cameron

Following the service, 93-year-old Richard de Renzy Channer - who was awarded a Military Cross for his war efforts - read a poem at the statue of Field Marshall Slim in Whitehall.
