The Aurora Borealis - better known as the Northern Lights - has been visible over parts of the UK.
BBC News readers have been sending in images of the display they have been able to capture. Here is a selection:

The light show was visible as the Earth moved into a new alignment with the Sun.

George Good captured this image of the aurora borealis over Llaneilian, Anglesey

Mike Alexander: "As soon as it got dark the Aurora lit up the northern horizon in Dumfries & Galloway with bright curving band of green twisting across the sky."

The Aurora Borealis is usually seen over Iceland and Scandinavia but was seen as far south as Wales in the UK on Wednesday night.

There are improved chances of seeing the lights over the UK over the next few weeks, forecasters say.
