'My brother's Do Not Resuscitate order was horrific'

A hospital trust has apologised after it placed a "Do Not Resuscitate" (DNR) order on a patient with Down's Syndrome - and listed his learning difficulties among the reasons.

The family of the man, who has since died, were not consulted or informed about the order.

They only found out after 53-year-old Andrew Waters was discharged from hospital in Margate in 2011.

East Kent Hospitals has admitted breaching his human rights.

The order didn't have a bearing on his death in May and the family has never sought compensation for this case.
