Faces of victims of homicide in London in 2018

The number of killings in London in 2018 has risen to its highest level for a decade.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were committed to a "relentless pursuit of those who choose to be violent".

The figures include murders, manslaughters and self-defence killings.

London's homicide toll for 2018 surpassed the total for last year in early November.

  • Steve Narvaez Jara

    1 January Islington

    London's first homicide victim of 2018 was stabbed on New Year's Day.

    Mr Narvaez Jara, 20, was attacked at a party at an address near Old Street.

    His family said they "pray to God that Steve's death brings knife crime to an end".

  • Elizabeta Lacatusu

    3 January Redbridge

    Forty-four-year-old Ms Lacatusu had come from Romania to London for work.

    She was stabbed to death in Ilford by her ex-partner.

    In June, Geanu Armeanu - who is also from Romania - was jailed for a minimum of 28 years for her murder.

  • Vijay Patel

    7 January Mill Hill

    Mr Patel was attacked by a 16-year-old boy after refusing to sell him cigarette papers at his shop in Mill Hill.

    The 49-year-old shopkeeper fell backwards and suffered a "catastrophic" head injury.

    The boy - who cannot be named because of his age - was convicted of Mr Patel's manslaughter and detained for four years.

  • Daniel Frederick

    8 January Hackney

    Father-of-four Mr Frederick, 34, never got to meet his youngest son, who was born after his death.

    He was stabbed in an unprovoked attack as he returned to his home in Stoke Newington.

    Five teenagers were jailed for the killing in October.

  • Leslie Hebblewhite

    9 January Tottenham

    Sixty-three-year-old Leslie Hebblewhite was stabbed by Eugeniusz Ciwinski, 32, who had broken into his Tottenham home on 9 January. Mr Hebblewhite died in hospital.

    Ciwinski stole Mr Hebblewhite's bank card and went on to plunder his savings account.

    He was jailed for 14 years for manslaughter in July.

  • Harry Uzoka

    11 January Shepherd's Bush

    Mr Uzoka, 25, was a model signed with London's Premier Model Management agency.

    He was stabbed in the heart in Shepherd's Bush on 11 January by rival model George Koh in a row over a girlfriend.

    Koh was sentenced to at least 25 years in prison, along with his friend Merse Dikanda, 24, who also took part in the attack. A third man, Jonathan Okigbo, was found guilty of manslaughter.

  • Seyed Khan

    24 January Ilford

    Father-of-seven Mr Khan, 49, was murdered by a colleague at the carpet shop where he worked.

    Imran Mohammed transported Mr Khan's body in a shopping trolley to Ilford Cemetery where it was later found.

    Mr Mohammed was jailed for a minimum of 24 years in July.

  • Yaya Mbye

    28 January Stoke Newington

    Twenty-six-year-old Mr Mbye was found injured in a children’s playground in Stoke Newington and later died in hospital of stab wounds.

    Police believe the attack was pre-planned.

    Officers tried to trace three males dressed in dark clothing who they believed were responsible.

    29 January Peckham

    Juan Olmos Saca died after being stabbed in the chest on 29 January.

    The 39-year-old spent a week in hospital, but never recovered from his injuries.

  • Richard Staley

    30 January Paddington

    Hotel maintenance manager Richard Staley, 65, died after suffering a heart attack while tackling a fire in a hotel room.

    The fire was later found to have been started deliberately.

    Nora Es-Sadki Boughima, 19, was charged with manslaughter, and in November sentenced to six years in prison.

  • Khader Saleh

    31 January White City

    Twenty-five-year-old Saleh was an inmate at Wormwood Scrubs prison.

    He was stabbed to death with a makeshift knife.

    Three prison inmates were charged over his death, but a trial in November cleared them of murder.

  • Alfie Hoare

    4 February Croydon

    The three-year-old was found "unresponsive" and in cardiac arrest at his home in Croydon on 1 February.

    He was taken to a central London hospital but died three days later.

  • Lily-Mai Saint George

    3 February Haringey

    Eleven-week-old baby, Lily-Mai Saint George, was found unresponsive at home in Tottenham on 31 January and died later at Great Ormond Street hospital.

    Police investigated her death as murder, and two people were arrested in April.

  • Hassan Ozcan

    3 February Barking

    Mr Ozcan died from multiple stab wounds in Barking, east London.

    He was 19 years old.

  • Kwabena Nelson

    3 February Tottenham

    Mr Nelson was a 22-year-old youth worker. He was stabbed near his home on 3 February.

    He was set upon by the occupants of a black Honda Civic, which was deliberately crashed into his car while he was driving.

    In August, 21-year-old Neron Quartey was found guilty of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 26 years in prison.

  • Hannah Leonard

    9 February Camden

    Ms Leonard, 55, suffered from Huntington's disease. She was stabbed to death with a pair of scissors in her own home.

    A trial in November heard that Lucey Casey, 44, had attacked Ms Leonard after they had been out drinking in north London.

    Casey was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison for murder.

  • Sabri Chibani

    11 February Streatham

    Mr Chibani was stabbed in the chest by flatmate Ronny Padilla in Streatham, south London, on 11 February.

    He was 19 years old.

    Padilla was found guilty of murder at a trial in November and sentenced to 16 years in prison.

  • Bulent Kabala

    12 February Barnet

    London's first shooting victim of 2018 was killed in what police believe to be a targeted 'hit'.

    The 41-year-old taxi driver got out of his car and was shot by a group of suspects believed to have been driving a blue van in Cockfosters.

    He died at the scene.

  • Saeeda Hussain

    13 February Ilford

    Ms Hussain was stabbed at an address in Ilford on 13 February, and died from her injuries at the scene.

    She was 54.

  • Lord Promise Nkenda

    14 February Canning Town

    A court heard that Lord Promise Nkenda, 17, was run over by a group of people in a BMW.

    He managed to escape, but was cornered and attacked again.

    He was stabbed repeatedly.

  • Mark Smith

    15 February Waltham Forest

    Forty-eight-year-old Mr Smith was found unconscious at an address in Waltham Forest, east London, on 15 February.

    He was pronounced dead a short time later.

    Police have charged a 38-year-old woman with his murder.

  • Lewis Blackman

    18 February Kensington

    From Camden, Lewis Blackman was stabbed in the early hours of 18 February after attending a party in Kensington.

    He was 19.

  • Rotimi Oshibanjo

    19 February Southall

    Mr Oshibanjo died from his injuries after being stabbed in Southall, west London.

    He was 26 years old.

  • Abdikarim Hassan

    20 February Camden

    Mr Hassan was stabbed in Camden on 20 February. He was attacked following a gathering to mourn Lewis Blackman, who was killed on 18 February.

    His mother begged those with knives to stop using them and called for action from the police.

  • Sadiq Mohammed

    20 February Camden

    Mr Mohammed was stabbed in Camden hours after Abdikarim Hassan in a night of violent attacks across London on 20 February.

    He was 20 years old.

  • Jozef Boci

    23 February Greenwich

    Jozef Boci was orginally from Albania.

    The 30-year-old was attacked with a baseball bat following a dispute inside a nightclub.

    Two men were jailed for manslaughter in December.

  • Amir Ellouzi

    27 February Westminster

    Mr Ellouzi was shot in Westminster on 20 February and died one week later.

    He was 24.

  • Christopher Beaumont

    1 March Hammersmith

    Mr Beaumont, 42, was a software consultant and married father of two, who lived in Barcelona, Spain.

    He was stabbed to death by his brother at his mother's house in Hammersmith on 1 March.

    Stephen Blake, 32, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was later sentenced to indefinite detention under the Mental Health Act.

  • Kelva Smith

    5 March Croydon

    Mr Smith died after being stabbed in Croydon after a row over a motorbike. He was 20 years old.

    His aunt said London's issue with knife crime was "out of control".

    Tyrone Farquharson, 20, was convicted of his murder in October.

  • Laura Figueira

    5 March Twickenham

    Forty-seven-year-old Ms Figueira was found dead at her home having suffered stab wounds.

    Later the same day, her husband and two young sons were discovered at the foot of Birling Gap cliffs, East Sussex.

    All three had died from multiple injuries consistent with falling from a height.

  • Kelvin Odunuyi

    8 March Wood Green

    Mr Odunyi was shot dead outside a cinema in Wood Green on 8 March. He was 19 years old.

    While not a gang member himself, it was reported that he socialised with people who were.

    His mother told the London Evening Standard that Kelvin was "in the wrong place at the wrong time".

  • Michael Boyle

    10 March 2018 Southwark

    Mr Boyle was 44 and came from Galashiels.

    He was stabbed in the Sir Robert Peel pub, Southwark and died in hospital.

    Geoffrey Downs, 37, was convicted of murder in August and sentenced to at least 25 years in prison.

  • Nikolai Glushkov

    12 March New Malden

    Russian businessman Nikolai Glushkov, 68, was found dead at his home in south-west London. He had been strangled.

    His death came a week after the Novichok poisonings of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury.

    Police later disclosed that they Mr Glushkov had survived a suspected poisoning himself in 2013.

  • Lyndon Davis

    14 March Chadwell Heath

    Mr Davis died in hospital after being stabbed in Chadwell Heath on 14 March.

    He was 18 years old.

  • Joseph William-Torres

    14 March Walthamstow

    Mr William-Torres was shot in a car in Walthamstow on 14 March and died on his way to hospital.

    He was 20 years old.

    In a statement, his family said: "Joseph was very much loved by his family and friends. He will be missed by all."

  • Naomi Hersi

    16 March Heathrow

    Naomi Hersi, 36, met the man who killed her on a swingers' website.

    She was stabbed at a hotel near Heathrow Airport.

    Jesse McDonald, 25, was later charged with her murder and jailed for 20 years.

  • Russell Jones

    17 March Enfield

    Mr Jones died after being shot and stabbed in Enfield.

    He was 23 years old.

    Two men were later charged with murder, and a number of others have also been arrested in connection with the case.

  • Tyrone Silcott

    18 March Hackney

    Mr Silcott, 41, died after a dispute at a party.

    He was stabbed on the towpath by the River Lea in Hackney.

    Rowmando Lewis, 28, was convicted of murder in September and sentenced to serve a minimum of 21 years in prison.

  • Balbir Johal

    19 March Southall

    Mr Johal was admitted to hospital with stab wounds after being attacked in Southall on 19 March.

    The 48-year-old died shortly afterwards.

    Hassan Mohammed, 24, was found guilty of murder in September and sentenced to a minimum of 26 years in prison. A second man, Yaasiin Yussuf, 21, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 14 years.

  • Jermaine Kevin Johnson

    19 March Walthamstow

    Jermaine Kevin Johnson was stabbed in Waltham Forest on 19 March.

    He was 41 years old.

  • Beniamin Pieknyi

    20 March Stratford

    Twenty-one-year-old Mr Pieknyi was from Romania.

    He was attacked and killed by a gang of youths at Stratford shopping centre on 20 March.

    The Pieknyi family later said they were returning to Romania, describing London as a place where “if you say the wrong thing to the wrong person you could end up dead”.

  • Julian Joseph

    24 March New Cross

    Mr Joseph, 36, was assaulted on a bus in New Cross.

    He suffered a serious head injury and died later in hospital.

  • Abraham Badru

    25 March Dalston

    Twenty-six-year-old Mr Badru was shot dead in Dalston, north-east London, on 25 March.

    His family described him as a "beautiful soul" who "hated confrontation".

    His mother expressed her belief that he was killed in revenge after he helped convict a gang of rapists.

  • David Potter

    26 March Tooting

    Police found 50-year-old David Potter dead inside a house in Tooting High Street on 26 March.

    He had been stabbed in the neck.

  • Wieskaw Kopcynski

    27 March Barking

    Mr Kopcynski, 59, was assaulted at his home in Barking, east London.

    He died two days later.

  • Reece Tshoma

    29 March Plumstead

    Mr Tshoma, 23, was stabbed in Plumstead, south-east London, on 29 March.

    He was 23 years old.

    Police were called by medical staff after he was rushed to hospital but he died later that evening.

  • Leyla Mtumwa

    30 March Haringey

    Leyla Mtumwa was strangled and stabbed in front of her young son in Haringey on 30 March.

    Her husband Kema Salum, 39, was found guilty of murder at a trial in October and sentenced to at least 23 years in prison.

    The court heard that Salum was a "controlling bully" who had become jealous after Ms Mtumwa, 36, went on a night out with friends.

  • Devoy Stapleton

    1 April Wandsworth

    Twenty-year-old Devoy Stapleton was stabbed as he left a bar.

    He died in Wandsworth, south London, on 1 April.

  • Tanesha Melbourne

    2 April Tottenham

    Ms Melbourne, 17, wanted to become a social worker and had studied GCSEs at an independent school.

    She died in a drive-by shooting in Tottenham on 2 April.

    Hakeem Blake, Tanesha's brother, said his sister was shot because she was in the "wrong place at the wrong time".

  • Amaan Shakoor

    2 April Walthamstow

    Sixteen-year-old Amaan Shakoor was shot in Walthamstow on 2 April 30 mins after Tanesha Melbourne-Blake. He died a day later in hospital.

    His family said the "devastating" and "senseless" shooting felt like being handed a life sentence and their lives had been "totally changed".

    They said that Amaan had gone to meet friends when he was shot at close range.

  • Ourania Lambrou

    3 April Camden

    Eighty-year-old great grandmother Ms Lambrou was pushed to the ground by Harry Goodwin-Sims in Camden on 31 March.

    A trial in September heard how Goodwin-Sims had lashed out at a number of pedestrians, including Mrs Lambrou, in a drunken rage.

    He was jailed for six years for manslaughter.

  • Henry Vincent

    4 April Hither Green

    Henry Vincent was a burglar who was stabbed to death during a break-in in Lewisham.

    The 38-year-old was found collapsed in the street and died from his injuries a few hours later in hospital.

    Richard Osborn-Brooks, 78, was arrested on suspicion of murder, but later released without charge and told he would face no further action.

    4 April Clapton

    Fifty-three-year-old Babatunde Awofeso was pronounced dead at a bookmakers in Upper Clapton, north London

  • Israel Ogunsola

    4 April Hackney

    Israel Ogunsola, 18, was stabbed to death in Hackney on 4 April.

    Police were alerted by a motorist and performed first aid but the teenager died at the scene.

    Jonathan Obora, 18, was convicted of murder in November and will serve 17 years in prison.

  • John MacLean

    12 April Isle of Dogs

    Thirty-five-year-old John MacClean was stabbed at a property in the Isle of Dogs area.

    Paramedics were called, but he died at the scene.

  • Natasha Hill

    15 April Abbey Wood

    Ms Hill was found with multiple head injuries in the early hours of 15 April.

    The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene in Abbey Wood.

  • Raul Chiriac

    15 April Colindale

    Mr Chiriac was a Romanian national living in the UK.

    He was stabbed to death by his girlfriend Simone Fergus, 34, on 15 April at their home in Colindale, north London.

    She was later convicted of the 26-year-old's manslaughter and sentenced to five years in prison.

  • Samantha Clarke

    15 April Brixton

    Ms Clarke was stabbed to death in Brixton on 15 April.

    She was 38 years old.

  • Sami Sidhom

    16 April Forest Gate

    Mr Sidhom, 18, is thought to have been killed in a case of mistaken identity.

    He was stabbed in Forest Gate on 16 April and died shortly after the attack.

    He was reportedly on his way home from watching a West Ham game.

  • John Woodward

    17 April Hatton Garden

    Forty-seven-year-old John Woodward was a builder.

    He was found dead in Hatton Garden with serious head injuries.

    It was initially thought he had suffered an accident, but police later opened a murder inquiry.

  • Aaron Springett

    20 April Morden

    Mr Springett, 32, collapsed after a street fight in Morden, south London.

    He was taken to hospital, but died a day later.

    In November, Joseph Ankrah, 31, was sentenced to seven years in prison for his manslaughter.

  • Kwasi Anim-Boadu

    21 April Finsbury Park

    Twenty-year-old Kwasi Anim-Boadu was found dead with stab wounds in Roth Walk, Finsbury Park.

    A 21-year-old man was also found with stab wounds in nearby Seven Sisters Road.

    Two men were arrested in connection with the attack.

    1 May 2018 Queensbury

    Mr Reid was a music producer.

    He was shot on 1 May near to Queensbury underground station.

    The 38-year-old died from his injuries at the scene.

  • Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton

    5 May Kennington

    Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton was killed in a shooting in Warham Street near Kennington on 5 May.

    The 18-year-old rapper died from his injuries at the scene.

    Witnesses told the BBC a number of shots were fired around the street including one that missed a woman and went through a window.

  • Onees Khatoon

    13 May Hayes

    The 71-year-old was killed by her 51-year-old son on 13 May in the home they shared in Hayes, south London.

    Majid Butt pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison.

  • Rosina Coleman

    15 May Romford

    Eight-five-year-old Rosina Coleman had lived on the same street for decades with her husband Bill who died 11 years ago.

    Paul Prause, a 65-year-old handyman, was charged and convicted of her murder in November.

    A court heard how he had bludgeoned Ms Coleman and stolen a £7,000 ring from her. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

  • Abdulrahman Nassor Juma

    17 May Barking

    Known to his friends as Mani, Abdulrahman Nassor Juma, 23, was stabbed to death in Barking on 17 May.

    Police tried to save him before the paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

  • Osman Shidane

    18 May Ruislip

    Osman Shidane, 20, was stabbed on 15 May in Ruislip in a suspected drug deal.

    He died in hospital from his injuries three days later.

    A 17-year-old boy was later jailed for his manslaughter.

    20 May Mitcham

    Arunesh Thangarajah, 28, was a Sri Lankan national of no fixed address.

    He was stabbed in Mitcham and died at the scene.

  • Sophie Cavanagh

    20 May Bromley

    Ms Cavanagh, 31, was murdered after refusing to sleep with her estranged husband "one last time".

    Thirty-five-year-old Martin Cavanagh was jailed for a minimum of 16 years in December.

  • Marcel Campbell

    21 May Islington

    Thirty-year-old Marcel Campbell was stabbed to death on Upper Street in Islington on 21 May after an argument inside a van.

    Reece Williams, 22, was found guilty of his manslaughter in November.

  • Gerry Gaffney

    21 May Camberwell

    Father and lighting technician Gerry Gaffney was stabbed in Vassall Road, Camberwell.

    He was 46.

  • Mark Fontaine

    30 May Kensington

    Delivery driver Mark Fontaine, 41, was fatally stabbed in Kensington on 5 June.

    A 14-year-old boy was later charged with his murder.

  • Andra Hilitanu

    1 June Neasden

    Seven months pregnant, 28-year-old Ms Hilitanu died with her unborn child.

    She was found stabbed to death at a property in Neasden on 1 June.

  • Edmond Jonuzi

    9 June Turnpike Lane

    Thirty-five-year-old Edmond Jonuzi was an Albanian national living in the UK.

    He was found with serious stab wounds near Turnpike Lane tube station in north London and died at the scene.

  • Gitana Matukeviciene

    12 June Dagenham

    Fifty-two-year-old Gitana Matukeviciene was a Lithuanian national living in the UK.

    She was found dead at a property in Dagenham suffering from a range of injuries.

  • Mark Tremain

    14 June Lambeth

    Fifty-two-year-old Mark Tremain spent two weeks in hospital after police were called to reports of men fighting in Lambeth on 31 May.

    He died on 14 June from a head injury.

  • Matthew Thomas

    21 June Pimlico

    Scaffolder Mr Thomas was found dead with unexplained injuries at a flat in Pimlico, central London.

    He was 39.

  • Joshua Boadu

    22 June Southwark

    Apprentice engineer Joshua Boadu, known as SJ, was found with stab injuries Bermondsey, reportedly following an altercation with a group of men.

    The 23-year-old died in hospital 11 days later.

  • Gita Suri

    23 June Greenwich

    Ms Suri was found in the rear garden of a house in Tunnel Avenue, Greenwich, on 23 June.

    She had suffered stab injuries.

    She was 56 years old.

  • Jordan Douherty

    23 June Romford

    Fifteen-year-old Jordan Douherty performed drill music under the name Young Valenti.

    He was stabbed to death in Romford, in a fight outside a community centre involving around 100 youths.

  • Ishak Tacine

    27 June Edmonton

    Mr Tacin, 20, was stabbed to death in Edmonton, north London, after reports of a fight between men armed with baseball bats.

  • Shuren Ma

    1 July Woolwich

    Seventy-two-year-old Shuren Ma died shortly after police attended reports of a disturbance at an address in Woolwich.

    A man in his 70s was also found at the scene with stab injuries.

  • Janek Brakonecki

    7 July Leytonstone

    Fifty-seven-year-old Janek Brakonecki was a Polish national living in the UK.

    He was found seriously injured in a car park near Leytonstone High Road.

    He died at the scene.

  • Katrina Makunova

    12 July Camberwell

    Ms Makunova was stabbed at an address in Camberwell on 12 July.

    The 17-year-old from Lewisham died from a stab wound to her chest.

  • Latwaan Griffiths

    26 July Lambeth

    Latwaan Griffiths performed drill music with the group Harlem Spartans.

    He was found by police on Denmark Road in Lambeth having suffered stab injuries and died the following day.

    He was 18 years old.

  • Sheila Thomas

    31 July Herne Hill

    Ms Thomas was found dead at an address on Casino Avenue in Herne Hill, south London.

    She was 69 years old.

  • Sidique Kamara

    1 August Camberwell

    A drill rapper known as Incognito, Sidique Kamara, 23, was found dead by police in Camberwell on 1 August.

    Mr Kamara was friends with fellow rapper Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton, who was found with fatal gunshot wounds in May.

  • A 50-year-old woman

    2 August Dagenham

    Named locally as Karen Peter, she died in a house fire on Valentines Way, Dagenham, on 2 August.

    Thomas Peter, 50, was charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

  • Malik Chattun

    5 August Kingston upon Thames

    Twenty-two-year-old Malik Chattun was killed in Kingston upon Thames on 5 August.

    Police believe he died after a brawl involving up to 10 people.

  • Joel Urhie

    7 August Deptford

    Seven-year-old Joel Urhie died after an arson attack at his home in Deptford, south-east London, on 7 August.

    His mother and sister jumped to safety from the first floor.

    Iroroefe Urhie described him as "the sweetest, most caring boy you could ever meet".

  • Simonne Samantha Kerr

    15 August Wandsworth

    Ms Kerr was a 31-year-old nurse who had appeared on Britain's Got Talent in an NHS choir.

    She was stabbed to death in Wandsworth on 15 August.

  • Joseph Cullimore

    17 August Chingford

    Mr Cullimore was stabbed to death in Chingford, east London, on 17 August.

    He was 42 years old.

  • Eric Michels

    18 August Chessington

    Born in the US before moving to Britain in the 1980s, Mr Michels worked in human resources for the energy firm SEE.

    He was found dead at his home in Chessington, south-west London, on 18 August.

    Police are treating his death as murder. He had apparently died from an overdose of the drug GHB.

  • Leroy Junior Edwards

    18 August Catford

    Mr Edwards was stabbed to death in Catford, south-east London, on 18 August.

    He was 66 years old.

  • Kaltoun Saleh

    21 August Islington

    Ms Saleh died in hospital seven weeks after a fire at a property in Islington on 5 July.

    She was 43 years old.

  • Carole Harrison

    22 August Teddington

    Ms Harrison died in a house fire in Teddington on 22 August.

    Police began a murder investigation after tests revealed that the 73-year-old had been attacked before her death.

    William Kydd, 54, was charged with her murder in November.

  • Gary Amer

    24 August Walworth

    Sixty-three-year-old gas plumber, Gary Amer was stabbed to death at a property in Walworth, south-east London.

    He was stabbed 30 times.

  • Shevaun Sorrell

    25 August Deptford

    Mr Sorrell was found unresponsive in Creek Road, Deptford, on 25 August.

    Ambulance crews established that he had suffered stab injuries, but he died in hospital that night.

    He was 22 years old.

  • Abdi Ali

    27 August Enfield

    Mr Ali was found dead in the loft of an address in Enfield on 27 August having been missing since December 2017.

    He had died from a blunt force trauma to the head and stab wounds to the chest.

    He was 18 years old.

  • Celia Levitt

    Her death was determined to be from compression to the neck.

    She was 68 years old.

    3 September Tottenham

    Twenty-two-year-old Ismail Tanrikulu was found with gunshot wounds in Tottenham Cemetery on 3 September and pronounced dead at the scene.

    The police launched a murder investigation but said they were "keeping an open mind to the motive of this attack".

    He attended the same school as Tanesh Melbourne who was killed in April.

    6 September Woolwich

    Forty-six-year-old Mrs Warne was visiting relatives in London from her native Sierra Leone, where she ran a business school.

    She died after a suspected arson attack at a property in Woolwich.

    Up to 60 firefighters tackled the blaze, which prompted more than 20 emergency calls.

    18 September Islington

    Ali Al Har was found wounded on Corinne Road, Tufnell Park, on 18 September and died at the scene.

    The 25-year-old had been stabbed.

  • Kanagusabi Ramathan

    21 September Newham

    Mr Ramathan was found dead at a residential address in Newham, on 21 September.

    He was 76 years old.

  • Elyon Poku

    22 September Stamford Hill

    Elyon Poku was stabbed during a party in Stamford Hill, north London.

    The 20-year-old had worked as a DJ.

  • Guled Farah

    22 September Walthamstow

    Nineteen-year-old Mr Farah was killed in a drive-by-shooting in Walthamstow on 22 September.

    His friends drove him to hospital, but he died less than an hour after police were called.

  • Sandra Zmijan

    24 September Hayes

    Ms Zmijan was found dead in a garden in Hayes, west London, on 24 September.

    The 32-year-old died after being hit repeatedly by a heavy blunt object, police said.

  • Hashim Abdalla Ali

    11 October Hayes

    Hashim Abdalla Ali, 22, was shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a car in Hillingdon, west London, on 11 October.

    The driver of the car tried to get him to a hospital, but crashed in Uxbridge Road.

  • Moses Mayele

    12 October Hainault

    Moses Mayele, 23, was described as a keen amateur footballer.

    He was stabbed just yards from his home in Hainault, east London, on 12 October.

    A 22-year-old man with him was also stabbed, but survived.

  • Ian Tomlin

    17 October Battersea

    Father-of-two Mr Tomlin, 46, was killed outside flats in Battersea on 17 October.

    It was reported that he had been confronting drug dealers.

    Mr Tomlin died from a blunt force trauma to his head.

    22 October Tower Hamlets

    Twenty-five-year-old Nazia Ali, from Bow, was found dead at a residential address in Tower Hamlets on 22 October.

  • Ethan Nedd-Bruce

    22 October Greenwich

    Mr Nedd-Bruce died in Greenwich, south-east London, after a confrontation with three men on mopeds.

    The 18-year-old from Charlton was found with stab injuries and was pronounced dead at about 22:00 BST.

    Police have appealed for information.

    25 October Camden

    Mr Adams fell from a third-floor flat on 25 October.

    The 49-year-old was pronounced dead in Highgate Road, Camden.

  • Martin Welsh

    28 October Hendon

    Mr Welsh was stabbed at his home in Hendon, north London, on 28 October.

    He was 43 years old.

  • Rocky Djelal

    31 October Southwark

    Rocky Djelal's family said the 38-year-old was "a father who was idolised by his daughter, a brother who was loved dearly and an uncle, nephew and friend who was loved and respected".

    He was stabbed in Southwark Park on 31 October.

  • Jay Hughes

    1 November Bellingham

    Jay Hughes died of a single stab wound to the heart after he was attacked at a chicken shop on 1 November.

    He was 15 years old.

  • Malcolm Mide-Madariola

    2 November Clapham

    Malcolm Mide-Madariola was a student at a college in Clapham.

    He was stabbed outside Clapham South Underground station in the middle of the afternoon on 2 November.

    He was 17 years old.

  • Ayodeji Habeeb Azeez

    4 November Anerly

    Mr Azeez was found on Samos Road in Anerley, south London, at lunchtime on 4 November with stab wounds.

    He died at the scene 30 minutes later.

    He was 22 years old.

  • John Ogunjobi

    5 November Tulse Hill

    Sixteen-year-old John Ogunjobi was found seriously injured on Greenleaf Close, Tulse Hill, late on 5 November.

    Despite emergency services rushing to the scene, he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

    Police were called to reports of gunshots, but believe the victim died from stabbing injuries.

    Ms Sheikh was found dead at an address in Balham, south-west London, on 12 November.

    She was 62 years old.

  • Devi Unmathallegadoo

    13 November Ilford

    Ms Devi, 35, was shot with a crossbow while eight months pregnant in Ilford, east London.

    Her unborn baby was delivered by paramedics and survived.

    She was also known as Sana Muhammad.

  • An 89-year-old woman

    17 November Ealing

    An 89-year-old woman was found dead at an address in Ealing, west London on 17 November.

    Police have not disclosed her name.

  • Maureen Watkins

    17 November Peckham

    Ms Watkins, 75, was a retired accountant.

    She was found with multiple stab wounds by police and paramedics.

    She was pronounced dead at the scene.

  • Carl Whitehead

    17 November Teddington

    Mr Whitehead, 58, was found dead at an address in Teddington, south-west London, on 17 November.

    A post-mortem revealed he had died of injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.

  • Zakaria Bukar Sharif Ali

    24 November Dalston

    Zakaria Bukar Sharif Ali was stabbed on Kingsland Road in Dalston while trying to intervene in a fight outside a bar.

    The 26-year-old was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

    A post-mortem gave the provisional cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen.

  • Maureen Whale

    4 December Barnet

    Ms Whale, 77, died of a heart attack after two men ransacked her home.

    Police are treating her death as manslaughter.

    Her family say she suffered a "truly terrifying ordeal".

  • Aron Walker

    9 December Greenwich

    Mr Walker was stabbed at Topham House, Prior Street, Greenwich, on 9 December.

    The 18-year-old died at the scene.

  • Jay Sewell

    9 December Greenwich

    Police were called to Alwold Crescent in Greenwich following reports of armed youths in the street.

    Mr Sewell,18, died in hospital from stab wounds.

    A second man was treated and discharged.

  • Richard Odunze-Dim

    18 December Edmonton

    Twenty-year-old Richard Odunze-Dim was shot at an address in St Joseph's Road in Edmonton.

    Paramedics and police including firearms officers rushed to the scene, but he could not be saved.

    A spokesman for Mr Odunze-Dim's family said: "too many families have gone through the pain that we are going through now. We do not want vengeance we just want the violence to end".

  • Wilham Mendes

    22 December Tottenham

    Twenty-five-year-old Wilham Mendes was from Portugal and had been living in the UK since 2015.

    He was a keen boxer.

    Police found him with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.

  • Yet to be named

    30 December Poplar

    A woman was found strangled to death in Poplar, east London.

    The 50-year-old victim was found unresponsive and died just under an hour later.
