Chief inspector of prisons critical of Covid isolation practice

The outgoing chief inspector of prisons has said that keeping inmates in cells for up to 23 hours a day during the pandemic is "dangerous".

Peter Clarke warned of the impact it was having on inmates' mental health and called for the justice secretary to work with prisons to find another way.
