Train unions chief: 'We can't get past first base'
Mick Lynch, head of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers, has said negotiations with Network Rail "cannot get past first base" as "they won't offer us job security".
It comes as union members take part in the largest rail strike in 30 years in a dispute over pay and staffing numbers.
Three national strikes are taking place in June across England, Scotland and Wales.
People have been advised not travel by train this week.
