Rain puts rivers on flood alert in Devon and Cornwall

Heavy rain has swollen the River Taw at Umberleigh

Flood warnings and alerts are on many rivers in Devon and Cornwall after heavy rain.

Flooding is expected on the Exe from Tiverton to Exeter, the Tamar from Tamarstone to Polson Bridge and the Torridge from Dolton to Bideford.

People living near the Lynher, Clyst, Lower Taw, Axe, Exmoor and Teign, Culm and Otter rivers are also being warned to prepare for flooding.

More rain is forecast overnight, with drier conditions on Friday.
