Parts of Cornwall suffered severe flooding in November

Heavy rain moving across Devon and Cornwall could lead to some localised flooding, forecasters have warned.

Severe weather warnings have been issued for both counties and the Environment Agency has flood alerts on a number of rivers.

The Met Office said up to an inch of water (2.5cm) could fall in a short time, particularly on higher ground.

It said it was not unusual for the time of year and there was likely to be more heavy rain throughout the week.

The Environment Agency's flood alerts include the rivers Otter and Sid, Clyst and Culm, Axe and Upper Tamar.

It has warned people living near these areas to be prepared as flooding was possible through the evening and overnight, with low-lying land and roads affected first.

Cornwall was severely hit by flooding in November, with hundreds of homes and business affected.
