The Beatles: 50th anniversary of first hit Love Me Do
It is 50 years since The Beatles had their first hit record with their single Love Me Do.
The Beatles went into Abbey Road studios with George Martin to record the single in September 1962.
Love Me Do was released on 5 October, 1962 and went to number 17 in the charts. It was a moment that changed music history and popular culture forever.
Presenter Stuart Maconie visits Paul McCartney's childhood home to look at the roots of the song, which was largely written at the house in 1958.
1962 Love Me Do is broadcast on Monday, 1 October at 19:30 BST on BBC One North West and nationwide on the iPlayer for seven days thereafter.
