Plans to redevelop a site at the University of Reading for 279 homes and recreational space have gone on display to the public.

The university is moving off the Bulmershe Campus and will move its facilities by the end of summer 2012.

The plan would see current playing fields revamped, a new sports pavilion and teaching facilities demolished to be replaced with homes and a care home.

The public can see the proposals at the campus's music building until 1300 BST.

A full application is expected to be submitted to Wokingham Borough Council in the autumn.

The plan would also see six of the current halls buildings retained and converted into flats.

Revenue from the housing development would be re-invested into the institution, the university said.
