Closure of Central Baths, Wolverhampton, extended to July

The closure of a Wolverhampton pool has been extended until July as £40,000 of repair work continues.

The pool at Bath Avenue initially closed for a week at the end of February after some tiles came loose from the side and floor of the tank.

But in March the city council said it had been decided specialist contractors would completely retile the 22-year-old tank which would take about two months.

Work to install 20,000 tiles was "progressing well", the council said.

After the retiling, a few weeks are needed for the tiles to set properly and then the pool will be deep cleaned.

The council said it expected the pool to reopen in early July at the same time as a steam room at the site which has undergone a £14,500 revamp.
