Former England goalkeeper Bert Williams, 92, has broken his target of raising more than £100,000 in aid of the Alzheimer's Society charity.
Wolverhampton Wanders legend Williams set himself the challenge 10 years ago following the death of his wife Evelyn.
"To live with someone you've been married to for 50 odd years that doesn't know you is a terrible thing," he said.
Current Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray donated £10,000 from his testimonial.
Williams was presented with the cheque at his home in Shifnal, Shropshire, and said he would now try to raise £150,000 towards the Alzheimer's Society, which provides care for sufferers and funds research in to the disease.
One of the oldest surviving England internationals, Williams won 30 caps for his country in the 1950s and was appointed an MBE in 2010.
