Bath school closure decision is upheld

A decision to recommend closing a school in Bath has been upheld by the council's cabinet.
Bath and North East Somerset (Banes) cabinet voted last month to begin a consultation process with a view to shutting Culverhay School.
But the decision was "called in" after 27 opposition councillors formally challenged the move.
A consultation on the closure of the all-boys school will begin after 17 September and last for six weeks.
The school's head teacher, Richard Thomson, said he was "disappointed but not particularly surprised" at the original decision being upheld.
Culverhay, which is about half full, had wanted to introduce girls.
